I received Michael Howard's nice card entitled "Not That Way, Guys!". It is a shot of a young boy apparently "herding" a group of geese. Nice catch, nice printing. Unfortunately, USPS took a couple swipes out of the front, but not so much as to seriously degrade the presentation. Thanks Michael!

I was worried about that sending them as postcards. Next time around, into an envelope they go! Glad you like it, though.

Although I am currently on hiatus (after 40+ rounds), I always got more enjoyment from the cards that showed evidence of their travels.
When much younger, I worked during part of one summer for Canada Post doing overflow mail sorting. The postcards that we came upon were a tiny bit of interest in a day of mind numbing boredom!

Received Don Heisz's prescient photo of a bulldozer in the snow and mikeg's intriguing photo of Callanish II (How did you get the bull to cooperate?) in Saturday's mail. I had been thinking of driving up to Yosemite before the storm, as I usually do, establishing camp and doing photography after the storm had passed. It's a good thing I didn't follow thru on that as they closed the park yesterday thru Wednesday due to the severity of the oncoming storms. If I hadn't I imagine the park would have made me strike camp and go home which meant having to drive thru all that weather on chains. The current forecast calls for as much as 85 additional inches of snow in the valley by Wednesday. The park's webcams this morning shows a winter wonderland.

I just received Don Heisz's "Holancin Road", a very gray winter scene featuring a row of seeding greenhouses in the snow. With a sign leading us out of the scene, but probably not into summer. Thanks Don!

Welcome to Photrio! Thanks for joining, and it's great that you also have interest in the postcard exchange! It's lots of fun, so I can recommend it.
In addition tot he link offered above by @mikeg, it's important to keep an eye on this subforum and then drop a note to the organizer on the postcard round you want to join. The next round will be #59, so keep your eyes peeled on a thread just like this one we're posting in now, but with #59 in the title.
You could also approach @George Nova Scotia directly and ask him to be included on the next round. Perhaps he's willing & capable of entering you onto the list early.

@Dennis Stierer --- you'll actually need @George Nova Scotia to send you a message, since you don't yet have 20 posts so can't send messages. I'm sure he'll send you a message if you post in the next sign-up round (April?). Anyway - the more, the merrier! And any method of making a postcard is now welcome.

Two cards arrived recently here in the UK. Thanks to both @mfohl and @Michael Howard for their cards. Different, but both really nicely composed. I like them both. Michael - your card made it in perfect condition!

I got @Michael Howard 's "Not That Way, Guys!" too and it gave me a chuckle. Iwas glad to receive it and it made through the Atlantic unscathed.
Mines went into the post last Thursday, including a replacement for @cramej as my pcx 57 never made it up to his place.

. I like these stories. And more generally, objects exchanged as we do here offer some form of permanence and perhaps perpetuation of the experience that I enjoy thinking of.

I'm glad you enjoy it, negativefunk and mikeg. When I took this picture, I had no idea of the sign in the background...it was just a picture of my son and his goose friends. The sign was just an added bonus, once I printed it. It is one of my favorite photos I've ever taken.

I received @mfohl 's "Barn and trees" print today. A beautifully serene rural scene. The silhouetted bare trees and the texture of the barn materials are indeed very nice; and I particularly appreciate the repetition of double objects throughout (2 is my favorite number!). Thank you for sharing the back story, Mark!

I'll be going into the darkroom next Monday and shipping next week.

I just received @mikeg 's "Callanish II" - it really is an excellent photo. Almost surreal, actually. That paper is very nice, also. I don't know that I can find a silver gelatin paper that has that surface - I wish I could. Foma makes a matt finish fibre based paper that's close - I can't remember what they call it (I hate Foma's names for papers - too meaningless).

Thanks!

Thanks Don. I too really like the paper. I was trying to think of a darkroom paper like it. I used to do a lot of lith printing when I had a darkroom and the old and wonderful Kentmere Kentona had a sort of semi gloss finish that was a bit like the Fotospeed Art Classic -- but not quite the same!

Received @negativefunk's card today. A lovely composed square format image. The card also survived the trip with no damage. Thank you.

I got @mfohl 's very nice print too. I like the composition and the weathered textures, there's something that always calls me to old barns\buildings. Thanks a lot for it.

Happy to see my ones are making it to destination. I wanted to print a square so that was it (very poor "scans" of other options considered here and here).

Those look good. When you say "scan", you mean a digital photo of the print? Is that why the edges are curved? The best thing to hold a print for taking a photo is .... (drum roll) ..... the easel it was enlarged in. (Ta-da!)
