I am glad that you liked my card, and thank you for the compliment. I really like you card. An interesting perspective of what looks like a gazebo made more interesting by the IR effects. It must have been interesting to wonder around "Little Mexico" during a festival.

It was a blast! Downtown L.A. is a great place to wander around. It was also made weirder by the fact that I had the flu and was actually quite fevered. I didn't want my being sick to ruin my special day out to photograph. I tried not to pass out on a downtown street corner.

Two more received since my last post, but still missing seven out of thirty (actually, thirty-one, but that's not according to Ruediger's program), a bit sad, to be honest; I've commited again to send 30 in the next round, but 7 missing out of 30 is not a good score.

I'd like to blame one or another postal service, but to be honest, I can't be sure. Don't want to name-and-possibly-shame, but... I'm tempted.

Anyhow... I received Bob F.'s Beach shot; I'm guessing mine is on Ilford paper (IIRC there were toned ones and significantly less toned ones; mine falls in the latter category). Lively action shot, thanks.

And I received, outside of the list of 30 as compiled by rst's program, yet another beautiful card from Kate. Still using whatever is left of your HIE, I suppose? It's a beauty! Overwhelmed me, gave me a good feeling in troubled times. Thanks, Kate.

I guess it's now time to scan my round #14 postcard and show it in the appropriate gallery. I will do that (but don't hold your breath).

It's been an interesting round, but, as said, I hope it's not over yet, seven more to come?!?!

Exactly the same ones I'm still hoping to receive a card from; these and Rlibersky and Sile. Of these, I have only heard from Sile, who is still working on her prints and who is still committed to send them.

Same here. I think Sile posted that she sent hers and it's all the way from Ireland. In the last round Stephen Frizza sent me three separate postcards because I kept not receiving them! I did get the last one. He did send the postcard in an envelope and maybe that's why.

These are the same people on my list of miscreants, plus Sile. Sile and Allen Friday have acknowledged their lateness (so no problem), but as far as I know the others haven't.

my comments on r14 cards recieved to the end of September

Adrian D – Love the sense of motion that the blurring of the flywheel entails, and the crisp detail in the shadows, along with the capture of the cloud wisps.

Anke Drewitz –Aan alt process dream that makes me drool at the day in the future when I might have the time to pursue such a craft with the skills that you show here. Great coating and tonal range on this print of an elegantly composed subject with great use of DOF.

Birger A - Great tonal range and a golden expression of innocence on her face. I like the converging lines of the counter edge and the front of the apron.

Black Dog – Love the square print – I wish I had the confidence to do this more often, in this land of 5x7 and 8x10. Nice sharp foreground to blurred background balance.

Bob F – Nice cloud content, with mirroring tone in the crashing waves, with the swishing motion of the water moving in the foreground in the same frame. Great tonality in the shadows of the rocks

Buster 6x6 – The stains on the wall speak to me in this image. These tools do work, and don’t just hang there looking pretty.

CrispinUK – ‘If You Go Out In the Woods Today’ the trees will get you, according to this picture. The tiny bit of white that it’s the sky reinforces this.

David B – the iconography points to eternity, or in this case, another table full of baseball caps – how is that for a commentary on the state of religion today?

DRPSilver – Great eye, to see images like this in the ordinary is a gift I wish that I had. A minor niggle – there are some dust spots on the neg that made the print that I got.

ErikG – Great irony – broken down. Nice use of 1/3rds in the framing.

Gr82Bart- - Carb’s R Us – Greta memories of my Uni days, with shelves, desk, and bed frame comprised of milk crates.

JBannow – Talk to the Heavens- is the image them that I get. The ferns are the sanctuary, the birch trunks the organ pipes, that rise to the sky.

Jon King – the Survivor – I’d like to see how this one would look printed as a high contrast image too.

Johnny Walker – Waves draw your eye expertly to the dog, with a great reflection. I could do to see the horizon either higher or lower – it is a bit too close to the centre of the image for my taste.

Mark Fisher – Great balance and tonality. A super image in a low key style.

Mick Fagan – Love the sharp, crisp detail; great DMax of shadows. A loving depiction of reuse as an option to build as well.

Mike G – Super macro high key image and great DOF. Tasteful symmetry, but with the right degree of unbalance for me.

Moose On The Loose – I love the IR and the blazing white halos adjacent to great DMax areas.

Peter Schrager- A load full of full range of tones. Speaks well of what once was from today’s perspective.

Rob Skeoch – Great details on the tiny fingers of water in this cascade. Nice shutter time selection – details in the sweep of the flow, and great shadow detail.

RST – A nNice record of a scene and time. I would be interested in perhaps seeing how it looks with the foreground printed lighter, and the light areras dodged to still keep the details there as well.

Sly – A great print; I like the balance. I could stand to see a bit more black space at the top, above the highest flower.

Tim Gray – Looks like a real suburban campout – love all of the munchies piled on the table. Then the yahoo thing in guys gets going – lets fire this campout up. You sure captured the moment.

Wazza – A cool shot with nice sharp detail and good framing. I wish I could spot images taking opportunities like this.

Once again I do apologise profusely for the delay, I posted that I was sending my cards but only finally got that done today. It's been an insane few weeks in work and I genuinely had no time to get to the post office..
I hope to do a "Rachelle" on it this round and have them printed and sent super fast!

I had a brief conversation with Perry Manuk today over on flickr. This is what he said,
"I was pretty bad about printing out my cards. I actually finished the last ones last night so I'm going to trim all of them and hopefully mail them out thursday (my day off). So you and all the other people that think I stiffed them should be receiving them shortly."

In my first report, I reported on my first 8 cards (thanks to david b, Mark Fisher, Buster6x6, rst, sly, wazza, mooseontheloose, and drpsilver)

Since then I’ve received a further 10 cards on my list, plus a bonus card from BWKate (thanks Kate!).

The next 10 cards came from Birger A., Black Dog, Bob F, crispinuk, erikg, gr82bart, jbannow, Jon King, Mick Fagan, and Tim Gray. They are all great, and my individual comments follow:

Birger A. - what a great photo of a chef clearly in control of her kitchen (well printed too!)

Black Dog - another square image - warm and evocative of summer sun

Bob F - wonderful surf!

Crispinuk - the trees look like they are reaching out to get me - great depth

erikg - “End of the Road” - great capture

gr82bart - a perfect little gem of a polaroid - just wondering if this is Art’s pantry?

Jbannow - these trees and ferns seem to be speaking to me - and the audio clip that jeff recorded indicates they are!

Jon King - really interesting trees, really well printed

Mick Fagan - a great print, and a really interesting bathroom (those Aussies!)

Tim Gray - where there is fire ...

If you don’t count the bonus print from Kate, I’ve now received 18 of 24 cards

I think that I’m still waiting on cards from the following:

AdamKap, Allen Friday, brchambe, Lynda, PepMiro and Sile.

I think that in previous rounds I have had many many wonderful cards from most if not all of them, so I’m happy to remain patient.

After I told RST I would do the cards, I realized my darkroom is unusable for the months of June-July-August- and September. It's cooling down now. With work being as hectic as it's been, 12 hour days and three major projects to get out over the summer, time wasn't really available to do much anyway. There was the trip to New Orleans with the kids, I got a bit of shooting in there, there were the tests of the new Deardorff V-8, I developed a couple of 8x10 negatives to prove the 191mm and the 12 inch Ektars really worked, but not more than that. No printing what so ever.

I would finish them up this week but I am busy getting ready for my trip to the Cliff Dwellings of Mesa Verde next week so there isn't much time.

And my Angel fish died today and that has thrown me off my stride.

But david, I will take the rest of my 4x5 APX 100 film (about 75 sheets that didn't get sold to that guy in Boston) and shoot the ruins next weekend. I suspect I might get a suitable postcard out of that.

If I get out of my scheduled trip to Aachen Germany the first of the month, y'all should expect cards around the first week of November. If not, it will be around Thanksgiving.

Never fear david and y'all, I will do the cards. Most people in this group are also in my 'Let's all shoot one camera' group. I would never live this one down and those guys are Brutal (with a capital 'B'). Especially the one in Ireland.

David, you worry too much. I sent the cards on Monday and Tuesday, I printed them in July and was ready to reprint, but I found the safe place they ended up in. A box of elastic. I don't know how they got there, but they have indeed gone on their merry way.
