OK all, sorry about being absent for a while. It's taken some good time to get caught up after being out of action for a month. The count appears to be right at 50, which is about as large as I've ever seen it. If anyone who has signed up for the max would like to change their count please let me know via PM or email. Also, if you have signed up but I don't have you on the list shoot me a PM or email and I will add you right away.

It should be a fantastic round again this time!

Oh, almost forgot. There are two people who we have on the list as special members of the Exchange - Sean, the founder of this site, and Simon from Ilford who was instrumental in the resurrection of Ilford Postcard paper. I'll post a link to their mailing info in this thread shortly.

Thanks to everyone for being part of the Postcard Exchange!

- Randy

One more thing too! Please check your PM inbox for the next week or so. I will be PMing people who I don't have all needed information from so that the list is ready to email on the 1st.

Thanks again!

- Randy

I assume you will tell us how to do this, but if I'm sending only 20 cards, do I just pick 20 people off the list, or is there a match up? My thought is that random picking would leave some people not getting cards, correct?

On (or about  ) the 1st of the month you'll get an email with the names and addresses of those who get your postcards - just print a card for each of them and they will do the same for you. The cards will arrive over the course of the next 6 weeks or so typically, although sometimes you get them in bursts and sometimes most of them arrive in the first week or two. Just be sure to send your cards out before the end of July, or if you have time problems (not a problem) just post in the thread for this round that you're running late. Feel free to print ahead of time if it is more convenient, but wait for the list of people to send to before addressing them :D.

Randy,

Can I change my number to 30 instead of the maximum. 50 is too costly for me right now.

50 cards - now there's an incentive to get my darkroom operational again (just moved house).

Randy - when you prepare the lists this time can you include the name and address of the sender in the group list so we can check our address to make sure it is correct. If there is an error on the address we can catch it before postcards are dropped off at the post office

Can you also, please...format the addresses so those of us unfamiliar with Int'l addresses know where the line breaks are. I would suggest maintaining the formatting that the originator used when signing up.

overly keen here

The 30 cards are printed, dry mounted to a rear titling card (I used up some older FB paper from the freezer that curled wickedly when dried, despite the scrrens it was squashed between) and trimmed.

But all of this was done to get it out of the way before I and the family disappear for a backcountry camping vacation in the last 2 weeks in July.

When we come back from holiday, by the time we sort the household out and get the accumulated laundry done the fresh fruits and veg will start to be rolling into market, so that will be the time to rev up the canner, and also get the jam production under way. I usually don't get back to seroius printing sessions until the later part of September.

Drop dead date?

Randy,

Was the list locked when you posted it on the 24th, or will you be continuing to accept stragglers until the 30?

I don't want to join the exchange until I've actually got postcards printed, to avoid problems I've had in the past, but I would like to know if the list is locked and I should just aim for exchange #12.

Thanks,

-KwM-

I'd like to participate for a max of 40, if it is still open to sign up.
Best regards,
James

Hi there, I'm new here, and a recent convert from using digital, to film. I'm currently using Ilford XP2 film, getting it devloped locally, and don't have any dark room gear. Am I ok to participate if I scan my film, and then print digitally on 6x4?

If, so please count me in, up to 50 please

I've decided to do this properly, and not cheat, so I order a box of Ilford postcard paper today. This may mean that it takes a little longer to get the cards out, however, as it will be the first time I've tried proper printing.

Cheers

Geoff

Nope, not 'til the 31st. If you want to be a part of the one just give the word (and your max number!) and I'll add you to the list.

James,

It's still open. Just staple a $20 bill on my postcard and all will be well :surprised:. I've got your info already so I'll add you to the list for 40. Thanks for being a long-time member of the Exchange!

I think we can manage that without too much trouble. I'll talk to RST about adding that to the list that gets sent out. He was kind enough to write a nice little program that sorts people into groups for the Exchanges.

Hmm, I too have issue with that, but for the most part, I've been formatting them the way they come to me in the PMs. I'll see what we can do and try to work it out a little better. I end up guessing (a LOT!) since this is the only international post that I ever send. I always wonder about what the postal workers think when they see my cards...

The lists should be going out shortly, I've just got two people who's info I haven't yet recieved. It looks like a really large round this time, so it should be that much more fun. Thanks to all for being part of this round of the Exchange!

Crap. That's what I get for saying unlimited

Printing some tonight to find a good image, then will be printing on the 4th (day off!) and the upcoming weekend.

Hi all,

I let my litte program run tomorrow. It will send email to all participants the list of people they should send postcards to. I changed the program, so that this time we have the formatting as Randy got it. And as an attachment it will send an Excel spreadsheet containing the address data of ALL participants (I do not create individual Excel files). So before using this Excel file for labels (well it is not in label format), please delete those entries not on your list. Also, I am not very familiar in Excel, so this file will only contain a table with the address data, no fancy formatting or whatsoever.

There are still some participants who did not send us their email address. These participants will not get the Excel file and of course we need to send the data via PM which means that this is not done automatically but manual.

And then there are two participants who did not even send their addresses. If this is because they do only want to send, but not receive any cards ... I do not know, but if you will participate in this exchange, please send your address data to me (rst). If I do not have the data before I run the programm tomorrow evenig GMT you will have to wait for the next round.

So if bsignorelli and Linlow are interested in the exchange, please send your address data to me.

If Bastiaan, Mark Fisher, Bdial and Highpeak are interested in the Excel table, please give me your email address. We might have had your email address in the last round, but I do not store the address and email data longer that necessary.

So that is the organizational part of this post. Other than that, I am looking forward to this exchange, we are 52 (54) people in this round. It is fun to not only find bills in the mailbox for a month. My whole familiy likes this exchange ... much more than my own photography

ciao

Ruediger, if possible I'll hopefully personally deliver this rounds postcard later this month, yours that is!
