Whoa, Bryan! That does a weird trip to my eyes/brain! A 3D effect with both eyes open, less with just one open. Cool.

Thanks Vaughn, don’t stare at it too long, you might have a bad trip or go cross eyed.

And feeling a bit creative I wrote a very short story about the life of the little stump. I have no illusions about my future as an author, but enjoyed the exercise.
I think it may be my southern heritage that makes me want to "spin a yarn" (tell a story which has some elements of truth but is otherwise fictional) .

...I also need to understand something about the carbon printing.
Thank you. The way I print carbons is sort of like silver gelatin prints on steroids. Carbon printing, patented in 1864, is a UV-sensitive process using gelatin, pigment (often carbon) and dichromate to form the image. The image is actually made of different thicknesses of exposed gelatin -- the blacks are made of a thicker layer of pigmented gelatin than the highlights. Thus it is possible to get prints that have a raised relief. Pretty cool. A highly controllable and permanent process. Of course, being highly controllable means that it can also easily go out of control!

Edited to add: You have to add some sugar, also!

An interesting and challenging composition, Normand. Wonderful tonality.

Wow, there are some fabulous examples in this thread. Here is a sample from Port Gibson, Mississippi. Film: Ilford Delta 100. Camera: Voigtlander Vito BL with 50mm f/3.5 Color-Skopar. Scanned: Plustek 7600i film scanner. I am still learning how to use this little Skopar lens.

I already posted this one in the landscape thread, but it's just as relevant here.

Hasselblad 501CM, 4/50 CFi, Ektar 100, Lee CPL. Converted to B&W.

Looks great, but what we really want to see is photos of your Photrio "location" :whistling:.
