@Moose22 Thanks. That's Fuji X-T3, AFAIK we're in the hybrid section right?

yeah man, I was wondering why no grain is all.

I do this often, too. The best camera is the camera I have, but sometimes black and white looks better to me. One of my favorite street shots was with a D70 in 2004, and it just doesn't look as good in color as monchrome.

Canonet QL17 Giii with HP5+ @ ei200 developed in Ilfosol 3

Mevagissey meeting by E.J. Bragg, on Flickr

This is nice.

I just shot my first roll of HP5 and liked it. I have two more in the fridge, and I'm tempted to try one at 200 now to see the grain difference.

I shot the last roll at 400 expecting to do some inside/outside photography and ended up doing the whole roll in full sun. The extra stop would have been welcome.

Nice pic. I like HP5+ a lot and it is very tolerant of exposure errors. I rate mine routinely @ ei200 and develop with less than normal agitation for slightly longer to allow a bit of compensation. Here I have used Ilfosol @ 20°c 1:9 and given 6 minutes with 15 seconds initial agitation then only 2 invertions at the 2 minute mark and 2 more at 4 mins. Bags of shadow detail and highlights easily scanned or printed.

Nice. Good camera/film combination, too. I need to get mine out more.

Long story short Donald, I have had this camera for a long time and replaced the seals with a Jon Goodman kit. However it is like the proverbial round tuit! One day I got round to it and finally enjoyed the results. A joy to use and I hate that I procrastinated for so long.

@John Bragg I can recognize your photos by now without even looking at the author. You always go for this "john look" Not sure if it's inherent Ilfosol+HP thing, or the way you scan.

Thanks a lot. It might be my look now, but I emulate others that I like. I try and cram as much information in the negative as possible, thus allowing a multitude of possibilities. I like to think that as near a straight scan as possible is on the money, with some adjustment in post. I am currently teaching myself to dodge and burn with GIMP. The Mevagissey shot is however a straight scan with only minimal dust spotting.

@Old Gregg I think black and white suits the wine bar better than color would. You keep reminding me I can do black and white with the Z7 if I want, not only digital vibrant color. I just haven't been thinking that way recently.

I was out today around 5pm with the Leica in the everready case. Traveling light, like leica people always claim is cool, you know. Killed the roll and was walking back to where I parked when I took a short cut across the railroad tracks at the train station. There was a girl there waiting, sitting on a bench sideways (so her feet are on the bench) holding here knees. She had a surfboard propped up on the bench next to her. A great pose. I thought "That would have been a great focal point for some street photography". So I walked closer to pretend in my mind how I'd frame it, maybe with the tracks or the station signals behind to get some sense of place, and I saw the surfboard had S K A N K in fat black letters spraypainted on it from nose to tail. Holy crap there was a story there.

No film.

Man I missed my digital with a massive CF card at that moment. Or even the Nikons I'm usually carrying my bag where I always have extra film ready to go (I normally slap another roll in the F6 the instant the previous one is rewound.) This was such a missed opportunity.

When I got home tonight I taped a film cannister to the strap of the everready. I'll stuff a spare in there for next time.

Anyway, on topic. From a previous roll. Back of a building near the same station. Lots of mural art on the backs of buildings around here of you want to walk down the alleys. Ilford FP4

@Moose22 why do you say "not the best composition"?
That's my cheat trick: bicycles

Yeah, I do the bikes trick too. From the same roll, my self portraits:

20211004Delta400_1000px_25280006.jpg

20211004Delta400_1000px_25280007.jpg

As for the first composition, I wanted the ladies in that picture, but the street is boring, the shadow nothing special and I find it distracting. I would have done better with the ladies down the frame some, so maybe their heads were near the rule of thirds cross. I tend to like sky above better than ground below in general.

My big problem is this is a new to me camera and the WLF handheld is a touch perplexing. I can do left and right or vertical tilt, but doing both still messes with my brain so I need practice framing to be able to work quickly. I usually used a tripod.

I like the fact that she/he could colour coordinate everything but the shoes.
Yellow shoes must be expensive
