I too greatly appreciate your photographs.

Yes, quit your bitching, your not dead yet, post more pictures!.........or else I'll be posting more of my long series of poorly composed backs of peoples heads shots.

It would be nice if you’d post your long series, I’m sure there are some jewels in there.

Of the two the lower hits it for me, a) you’ve no idea what she’s rummaging for and b) the guy on the left with head pointing southwards - is there a connection with these two individuals?? We don’t need to be told, it’s far better to make-up our own story.
I don’t know where you travel to for these photo opportunities, but I guess it’s far and wide. A much travelled photographer.

Thanks! They are gypsy from the Balkans. An extremely photogenic place and people. Everything involving them is photogenic, tells a story.

They work well together diptych-wise and loving the warm tones.
I really like the Pig in the background, representing men.

The warmtone is actually my iphone not adjusted to tungsten, however the final print once toned in Viradon is pretty close.

Although I do this rarely, replenished X-Tol works well with a two stop push (I don't push develop T-Max films that are just one stop under-exposed).
However, you may need to increase development times more than with un-replenished X-Tol. Those restraining development by-products definitely play a role.
I would note though that the light conditions in your example appear to be quite low in contrast. Your "push" may have just started to compensate for that.

You won't get much of anything more in the shadows - pushing doesn't really help much with that. It is the mid-tones and highlights that benefit.
That development time would probably work with a scene with normal contrast light. With the flat lighting conditions I see, try 20% more.

@MattKing thank you, I'll try developing longer. One annoying thing about replenishment is that starting development times cannot be found, as opposed to stock or standard dilutions. I do not mind somewhat crushed shadows, but in this case it's just too much... These were developed for 12:30 @21C. I'll see if longer development will help.

If i cannot find the times, I use the 1:1 times. That has worked well. Also ask on this website.

I don't consider NB23's pictures to be "street photography." They are too good and go far beyond what is usually considered in that genre, even if they are shot in the street. And BTW, I think so-called SF is a spent force that is no longer needed. Yes, some are worth a glance, but that's about it. No lasting value as far as I can see. Waste of time. HCB said it all.

I think NB23 is a bit of an HCB.
Any of the famous practicers of "street photography" didn't identify as such. And even resented the term.
Boxes (concepts/tropes/prejudice/stereotypes etc.) can be useful as a learning tool and shorthand. But only for so long and so far.
At some point it should be selfevident to the intelligent learner, how it's all a construct and an illusion, that will hold you back in the long run.

We all have our favourite places to photograph. If it happens to be on the street sometimes, then fine. But one should never try to take emulation of Winogrand or Bresson further than the first tentative step.

Plenty around town, working still!
This shot is from 2012, Cuba. I’m reprinting a few...

Yep, I drive by one every day on my way to and from work, but they aren't on every street corner the way they were before cell phones took over.

Very unusual Cuban scene.
