Thanks! I don’t like the last one that much. I’m more into composition and forms, placement of things, with a definitive moment versus one-dimensional action/people in my pictures. But still, it can be seen as somewhat funny and definitely not an everyday sight.

We have some amazing street photographers on this forum, this thread is one of my favorites. There's one thing that's irritating me though: lots of photos are posted with built-in dark/rough framing and I find it hugely distracting and, in some cases, mood-ruining, as they remind me of funerals and tombstones. I'm from the eastern europe and photos in black frames evoke these associations, I'm not sure how universal that is.

Speaking for me: the black border is very important. When I shoot, I compose according to the framelimes. My framelines/viewfinder boundaries are what determined how I composed. Take off the framelines and you’ll make me into a sloppy photographer relying on post-cropping.

The picture I show is exactly how I saw a scene, including the framelines. The black border was there all along, dictating my composition.

The black border is a gift I am making to the viewer.

I am eastern european as well.

@NB23 not criticizing, BTW. Love seeing your work here and only wish the borders didn't have these associations in my head.

I like the boarders, it adds honesty and a lack of pretense and to me doesnt distract from the image. Prefer that to film boarders with the perforations and film codes, thats just annoying.
