Indeed! Most people use this line as a joke. My attitude is to treat it as a real benefit. Part of the reason I'm into this hobby is because it makes me more active. Hiking and carrying around heavy objects is good for us.
Ha. I spent years in the Florida swamps with an Orbit C-1 (the black monster) and a Zone VI heavy duty tripod.

It's not so much the 11lbs of camera, it's also the tripod I use with it, which weighs as much. And the bulk of everything -- it all takes a lot of space. A second lens is about the same size and weight as my F6 with a 50mm attached.

Exactly the issue with the RB67. I bought mine because I've always wanted a MF SLR, and it was relatively inexpensive (early 2020, they've gone up some since then). Love the rotating back and Graflok mount. But the camera with 90 mm lens, side grip, and even WLF is heavier than my Annie Speed with Grafmatic, and either one needs my aluminum surveying tripod because I haven't spent several hundred bucks for a suitable carbon fiber version and the cheap compact ones won't take the weight.

What the heck, this is a cropped image from a 6x4.5 scanned transparency.

you need to be able to see in panoramas.

Exactly! Which is part of why the great pano shots are inspiring. The clouds are a great addition. The rocks and "tunnel" of trees... just quality composition and scene choice. I could probably do something with the GX680 and chop the top and bottom off the negative, but it's moot without choosing a scene and composing it so nicely.

Got an RB67? Load 35mm with adapters and put a 65 mm or 50 mm on it, and get almost the same aspect ratio as an XPAN with equipment you already own. And only three times the weight!

Also works with Mamiya 7ii (and adapter)... not my greatest shot, and this was my first attempt at wet-mount scanning, but an example nonetheless.

I'm sure it could be made to work with any interchangeable lens 6x7 SLR or rangefinder camera. The RB conveniently has nearly-matching focal lengths (90, 65, and 50 -- as well as the 37 mm fisheye if your pockets are deep enough).

I used to crop panoramas on 6x7 but this year I had a serious case of GAS and got a 617. No regrets, the image quality and enlargement factor is insane

Recently I've been having fun with vertical panoramas

Now I need a better scanner...

Lovely photograph, and what a surprise, I know that rock and those trees!

Thank you. Yes, it's a short distance to the right of the main quarry face. It was my first time visiting Bolehill, so I concentrated on one area. I will have to go back at some point, as I saw countless opportunities all around.

@Stephen Benskin your images are excellent. I think I said this before, but we could all benefit from you uploading higher-res and/or less compressed photos!

It's not intentional. Like I said earlier, they are supposed to be work prints. A lot of the images were scanned long ago with a flat bed scanner from the 90s at various resolutions and resized and saved more times than I can count. Below is one that holds up relatively well considering it's also scanned on the 1990s scanner but at 600 or 300 dpi. The image is at 300 dpi. I don't have very many of these types of examples. Also, I like a to size the image to the point where scrolling isn't necessary.

@Stephen Benskin much better! Keep them coming!

Though even the smaller ones are appreciated.

This is always an issue for me. What do you condsider small enough that they don't require scrolling? It's very device dependent.

I've been dumping things at 1200 and 2000px on the long side for reasons. I realize so many people only ever see my work on a phone that higher res is... well, useless.

Sometimes I like sharing bigger stuff with certain people who will see it on a monitor and can appreciate it. Especially landscape.

I use a large screen for viewing Photrio, not my iPhone.

I like the way the colors come through. Many times fall colors come through flat or dull.

Thanks. Conditions were good that day and the leaves were generally at their peak of colour, although sadly a lot of them had already been blown off the trees because of the fairly high winds we've had this year.

Even though the lighting is subdued, sometimes a polarizer can still bring out the colors better.
