Hey Men... It's looking a little tight for me on the other weekend and I'm thinking about going with the original dates of the 6-9th. I'm also trying to work something out with some of the locals through the Art Center in Hancock that is run by an old friend. The following weekend is less likely there too. I noticed that Andrew said he may be able to make that one work. All apologies if not!

I am very interested. Being newly retired, I only have one boss to answer to. I'm sure if I ask nicely she'll let me go.

I'll put the dates on the calendar, to see if I can possibly shake up a couple of days to come join you guys, even though it looks really slim at this point. I'd so love to see everyone again.

I'll be up their the Sep. 30 - Oct -4 to shoot color stuff for work. I can give you a report if you like.

That'd be great... I thought I saw you the other day in a big, red DOT pick-up on 75? Were you shooting some construction?

I'm still planning on this everyone. Thing is that I've been trying to contact some of my old haunts and most are closed... very sad. The ice cream parlor in Lake Linden, etc. I think the Gay Bar is still open as is Shutes after being closed for awhile.

What I'm going to do is try to get a discounted block of rooms at the AmericInn in Calumet. Also working on a private mine tour at Quincy for all interested. It's pretty interesting though not terribly photographic. Well worth doing considering we'll be there.

More to come. I'm off to Iceland for 2 weeks this next Sunday and will try to have details posted before I go.

hmmm, I've got a hunting trip the week of the 10th so I don't think my boss would approve of this either. Probably be in cross village around that time though.

Yes Bill it would have ben me out on the side of the road. I do a lot of construction photos here at work. I'm down in Detroit 2-3 days a weeks shooting.

It's still on my calendar as the second half of my trip. From Friday, Sept. 30th through Tue., Oct. 4th, I'll be on the east coast of Lake Superior. On the 5th I'll start heading toward Calumet. If the gathering doesn't work out I'll just wander around the U.P. with my camera and head back home on Sunday the 9th or Monday the 10th.

I'm trying to figure if this will work for me or not. Calumet is over 11 hours away for me, and I need to be back home for a family commitment by mid-day Saturday.

Calumet

Are there folks still planning on October 6th - 9th?

Hello All,

So sorry to snooze on this. I got so wrapped up in Iceland and the recovery (loooong trip) and have neglected to get back to everyone on this.

Unfortunately when I was looking into rooms for us, it came to light that it as a very busy weekend for them up there and finding enough room is a problem. We would have to go some distance away to get enough space for everyone. I'm really not sure what to do about this and thought I'd put it out there to all of you.

I'd still be willing to do a meet-up, but with limited rooms and a busy Fall, we might have to change the location or dates.

Again, I am very sorry about this everyone. If you have any suggestions... have at it.

Bill

Gathering

Bill, what about pictured rocks? Munising? I called around and the Holiday Inn has 6 rooms. The casino in Christmas has lots of rooms, may be a reason for that. :smile:The American Inn right outside Munising has 6 rooms available. Just a suggestion, not sure Pictured Rocks is where people would like to meet up.

I'm totally in on Pictured Rocks! I had thought of it as a back-up but was also worried people were more into the mines. There is a lot there including day hikes along the cliffs if weather is nice. The boat may still be running as well as a trip over to Grand Island.

Anyone else????

Thanks Esky

Count me in

Pictured Rocks will be very cool. Also, Highway 13 has lots in the way of inland lakes. Wagner, Laughing Whitefish falls, Pictured Rocks, the list is long with things to see.

This is starting to sound interesting. Pictured Rocks area is much more within my driving radius for that week. (I did some calculations, and I have 24 hours of driving scheduled... hopefully I'll have time to unpack a camera.)
