To be fair, this is in the Ethics and Philosophy forum, so somewhat a theorist forum. And you don't have to be a photographer to write or talk about photography.
Just because early photographers added and removed objects from photographs does not show nor prove that the practice is accepted in mainstream photography. The fact that you do that shows that you do not do work in photography, merely is photography to achieve your purposes, yet you are out of mainstream photography. I will commend you on your ability to attack those who have demonstrated superior knowledge with trivial and obscure cockamamie. Very well done. Of that you are among the stars.
Sirius Glass had better be able to demonstrate what "mainstream photography" is by posting his photos
Good point, but, if Sirius Glass is going to accuse another photographer of...
...then Sirius Glass had better be able to demonstrate what "mainstream photography" is by posting his photos, and what better way to demonstrate "superior knowledge" than by posting his photos.
Might take a couple days for him to cobble something together, but I'm sure more than just me wants to see if he can actually walk the walk.
Really? That's just weird. Maybe this time Sirius Glass will post some photos.
naaa, not weird and they never will, that's just what they do....Might take a couple days for him to cobble something together, but I'm sure more than just me wants to see if he can actually walk the walk.

I wouldn't hold your breath. they don't post because their work is too good for this site and will be stolen. I'm hoping I can buy some of their insults from Sean and auction them off as NFT's!

I assume he's not a photographer.
(I'll add that I'm not a photographer in any sense greater than I just take photos and make prints for myself.)
I remember those days too. Most people still do back up what they say with images, but SG .. there really isn't much to go by as you have seen .. usually just harsh words on a screen .. I'm still hoping they read some of those books I posted links to, they might help them get a firmer grip about the history of photography, and how every process from heliographs to now incorporated image manipulation.I haven't been around here much since this was APUG, when people tended to back up their claims with actual photos. I fully expect Sirius Glass to post some, otherwise his words (or in this case, accusations) are worthless.
Colour me optimistic.
Feel free to drop by for a few days or a week and I will show you my photographs. Early on one of my photographs on APUG was downloaded almost 1,000 times in a few days, so I will rarely post on line, except to demonstrate a technical point.
Sorry, not good enough. If you are going to accuse other people of not being real photographers you'd better be able to demonstrate, by way of your photography, what real (or 'mainstream' whatever that is) photographs are and explain how they were achieved without manipulation.
Hits on a photo mean nothing; boobs & butts will get anybody big numbers, despite the quality of the photograph.
I've provided some of my work prints, as they best describe what I believe photography is/means to me. If you won't do it as well, I can only assume you are inept as a photographer compared to how you elevate yourself in your comments.
Search the website, there are enough examples I have posted to satisfy you. But that begs the point that adding and removing major items from a photograph is not part of mainstream photography and generally frowned upon by most amateurs and professionals.

It is not for me to prove your point.
Are you posting on lion taming forums? Hope not, because you'd have to step into the cage to prove yourself there as well.
Well you would assume wrong, take up my invitation in the previous post.

Does that include your god Ansel Adams? Is he "mainstream photography"?
How do you explain Ansel Adams routinely retouching items out of his images? Like the huge LP on the hillside in his photograph "Winter Sunrise, Lone Pine."
According you your definitions, Ansel Adams wasn't a photographer, and Winter Sunrise isn't a photograph....
I'm sure right about now the dissonance in your head is starting to bother you, but since you claim to be the arbiter of all things photographic I'd love to hear how you claim two things that don't agree....
And yeah, post some photos. I doubt you will though. Cowards hide behind excuses....
really ?
really ?
I would just like to know what serum gass is talking about because they makes no sense.
LOLBut.... why?
LOL
You post all sorts of things are we supposed to ignore everything you say too ?
