Mr Glass appears to have vacated the field. Scanning prints perhaps?

More dissonance:

"I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I shall live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop." Ansel Adams

vs

"I leave the digital work for the urologists and proctologists." Sirius Glass

If it improves your day and forum experience, then I highly suggest you do! Although I don't think I should be put in the same category as some who shan't be named.

IDK I was hoping for civil discourse about photography.. not really asking for much ...

I find it ironic that he started the "Post your street photography here" thread.Maybe it was to collect it and sell it on the corner.

Does that include your god Ansel Adams? Is he "mainstream photography"?

How do you explain Ansel Adams routinely retouching items out of his images? Like the huge LP on the hillside in his photograph "Winter Sunrise, Lone Pine."

According you your definitions, Ansel Adams wasn't a photographer, and Winter Sunrise isn't a photograph....

I'm sure right about now the dissonance in your head is starting to bother you, but since you claim to be the arbiter of all things photographic I'd love to hear how you claim two things that don't agree....

And yeah, post some photos. I doubt you will though. Cowards hide behind excuses....

Lone Pine was a pimple and an major pain in the ass to burn out. Ansel waited until the horse turned around. He did not add the horse.

One has to consider the instagram/twitter/etc "photographer". Just post a few nipple shots of a woman in a crochet brassiere, and youll be a famous famous photographer simply based upon number of views or likes the image gets.

I have been in the lunch room at work on night shifts and been forced to listen to "entertainment shows" declaring 15 year olds to be major stars and important movers simply because they achieved 10,000 likes to a twerking video in a single day, or 500K followers on facebook.

are they mainstream ?? do they edit their photographs ????
editing photographs is frowned upon in the amateur and professional community.
no one is allowed to edit anything unless it is Ansel Adidas

That's it?

Forgot about these?

Good point, but, if Sirius Glass is going to accuse another photographer of..

...then Sirius Glass had better be able to demonstrate what "mainstream photography" is by posting his photos, and what better way to demonstrate "superior knowledge" than by posting his photos.

Might take a couple days for him to cobble something together, but I'm sure more than just me wants to see if he can actually walk the walk.

...or at least whip them out and put them on the table so that we can properly judge them?

Every time I think you have reached the end of your assery, that you can't possibly become more of an ass, you surprise me, and find a new level. All the evidence points to you not being a photographer at all, just a fondler of Hasselblads. You never post images, just drivel in your trolling of threads.

What a clown...

He also didn't include the table, floor, walls, house, town, country, world in the photo. I think he purposely cut them out, actually. At the very least, for it to be a photo, it should have the knife. The knife would say so much.

Attacking me does not change the fact that most photographs including those on Photrio oppose adding or deleting major objects in a photograph.

Sorry, but it cannot be classified as attacking when you threw down the gauntlet first by insulting people and denigrating their photography without demonstrating, through your photographs, what ‘proper’ photographic style and/or techniques are.

Also, you haven’t responded to how Ansel took in Minor White, who’s rock photos in Mirrors, Messages, Manifestations are completely antithetical to Ansel's style, or to Ansel’s position on digital photography, both of which demonstrate an openness of mind which you appear to lack.

I’m calling you on this. Lay your photographic cards on the table, as I have. Show us what you got. Explain why you appear to be so close-minded compared to He Who You Adore So Much.

I didn't attack you. Disagreeing with you is not attacking. And there is no possible substantiation for the claim you make - you have no way of knowing what was removed from the photos you've seen.

I'm not doing this, I am just attempting to find out why sometimes some people are revered for doing these techniques and others are degraded for doing the same techniques.

They are just wanabee, not serious amateurs.
Can you tell me what the difference is then between a wannabe and non-serious amateur and someone who isn't ? your comments disregard that people who are professionals have been using every method possible to get the image they wanted from the 1830s forward. The books I posted the links to might explain these things better than an internet conversation.

They'll never show their work because this is what they do .. bait. I am just interested in the difference between a wannabe and someone who is a real photographer seeing 35 years of professional experience doesn't seem to be enough LOL HAHAHA

I don't think he can, because his attitude is mostly just unjustifiable protectionist elitism. In the meantime, even if the majority of photographers are engaged in what he considered unacceptable practice, it should have no relevance to him and his work (assuming he has taken photos), because it is not a practice he is willing to adopt.
