Just got the very sad news from Matt Blais that Per passed away this morning. We are all devastated. Such a fantastic teacher and sweet man, so much talent. He will leave quite a legacy. We are in shock.
Such terrible news. I treasure the brief time I spent with him this past year. What a loss to our community.....he was so encouraging, positive and always in good humor .
Matt and I went to see Per at the hospital on Thursday last week. He was his usual self. I know how morphine can make one feel like nothing is wrong. We had a great visit full of laughter and for this I am thankful. Per was a dear friend, mentor and wonderful artist and teacher. He was a great inspiration to me. We spent a day together with me teaching him carbon transfer that I will never forget. My best to his family. They will be in my prayers.
Per was a true artist...not "just" a photographer. Through his eyes and spirit, his generous soul and love of sharing, all who came together under his guidance benefited. He was quick to laugh and slow, if not impossible to anger. I made many life friends through his endeavors and for that, and for the many laughs, I am forever thankful he thought to consider me his friend.
I was honored...
Yes, Steve, I think most of the discussion is on facebook at the moment because it just happened. But I am sure Matt and Jim Fitzgerald will pull some things together.
