interesting, because yesterday I was telling one of the guys at my camera store about these ORWO issues- and he had an interesting thought that Lomochrome 92 was really just repackaged NC stock

looking at other peoples' summer of 92 images I'd say it looks similar to nc 400, but I won't know until I try the film myself

Does your NC400 negative look like the negative second from the left (NC500 is third from the left)?

Plain white paper or white glass or acrylic taped to a North facing clean window pain, will smooth out the viewing for most of the skylight day.

A wood lath section, it's top edge slightly beveled, with the lower side against the window side, held in place against the white sheet with double stick tape, can hold negatives and slides upright in position for hands free viewing.

IMO.

my NC looks a bit more green while the summer of 92 definitely looks a little more cyan

Such statements on the basis of the kind of scans we usually make at home are generally unreliable, unless you're scanning samples of both film side by side (e.g. on a flatbed) and performing the same color corrections on both (see e.g. @brbo's example of the 4 strips side by side). Also keep in mind that notions like "I scanned them using the same profile/same scanner settings" are a sure-fire way to get lost in the woods, since scanning software generally applies all manner of auto-corrections that will shift the color balance around without your being aware of it.

Judging color negative film on the basis of scans is an extremely slippery slope.

Never received bulk rolls B&W and some color film ordered November 2022. Between the "lost" orders from them and Ferrania, I'll now stick with more established brands. Just as well, I suppose; experienced some weird defects in a 400' bulk roll of UN54 -- possibly mold? And of course they don't reply to any email enquiries.

Yeah, that's totally something I can afford to do.
That would interest me, dependent on price though....as to whether I tried one for fun or shoot a few rolls a year.

What I would really like to see is their B&W stocks in super 8 and std 8mm formats.

I'd love to see another manufacturer produce double 8 cinefilm

I'm willing to bet the non kodak stuff is really foma emulsions- and even then I'm willing to bet they're having the kodak stuff slit and rolled by foma.
Actually if you do some You tube surfing, the perforating for both formats was done by a firm in Germany.

this set of videos shows the process.

The perfing will have been dune by Kahl film in Germany. Zero doubts that Foma has nothing to do with the FPP films.

I used their N74 a while back, std 8mm B&a negative and it was excellent.

I used a FPP high speed 8mm B&W neg film just last month which I assume is Kodak XX. It's also very good....I filmed parts of three gigs on it as well as finishing off the role on my cats.

Yep the N74 was the Filmotec product...and very good it was.

Just from my perspective, I'd appreciate something in 8mm that's easier to process at home than Fomapan R100. The B&W neg stocks I've managed to achieve results nigh on indistinguishable from a laboratory. And they can usually be processed reversal if I wish. But since I'm doing more scanning these days and less projection, B&W neg is a good choice for me.

I am unsure how many other customers feel the same way, I suspect it is very much a niche within a niche.,....though when i contacted ORWO a couple of years ago they did say they'd be offering B&W 8mm stock in due course.

I'm curious about NC400 in 8mm or super 8 though. But it's going to depend somewhat on price. The beauty of B&W stocks is that the film tends to be cheaper and I can save loads processing it at home in my Lomo tank.

Film Photography project DID have some film made in the Regular 8 format. (paid for a batch of 16mm unperfoated and then had some made in Double 16mm and some more on regular 8.)
Did Wittner do the perfo job? Or in US/Can? How much is it, pls? Thank you, Karel.

I belive that they are the ultimate contractor, there were PALLETS of Film involved, as it had to be ordered from Eastman Kodak as NOT-Perforated.

You would hav eto visit the film photography Project site to see what they have left. It is NOT cheep.
