Just to update the status on this purchase. I received the camera I got (Hasselblad 503CX) about a week ago.

I got it from a person in Germany that took great care of it. When I opened the box I was surprised at how good it looked. I knew from the pictures that it was well preserved, but holding it in your hands is something else. I really feel like I have a brand new 503CX. The cosmetics are almost perfect, and I do mean that because I'm very picky. There are some small marks on the base where the stand screw is attached, but that's pretty much all. It also very clean. It literally looks like new.

I'm very pleased with this purchase. I shot about a half a dozen rolls with it, and I'm really happy with the way this camera is conceived. It's much more "user friendly" than my old TLR.

And it has a sweet sound too! Clunkety-clunk!

Don't waver and go straight for the best Hasselblad 500 series. You'll never look back or elsewhere again.Nothing sounds like releasing the shutter on a Hassy;Pro models can detect the sound in a crowd of photographers and seek them oout.

What he said. I traded in may Mamiya C330 and lenses and I never looked back. It is my go to camera for important or serious work. Plus it is a great camera to carry around.

Guy, thanks for the additional replies, but I guess my last post got lost at the bottom of the previous page. Like I said, my 503 has arrived and I'm well pleased with it.

Wow, seeing a camera that clean makes me think I should shine up the chrome on my Kiev 88, blacken and re-glue the leatherette, and hope that one day I'll score big and be able to afford a real Hassy...

You made a wise choice. I also have a 503. ... and 903.

Depending on how picky you are about the cosmetic side of it, you can get a Hasselblad system for a reasonable price. I've seen a very very clean 500C/M sold on an auction for around 850 dollars a few weeks ago, which is fine for some worn out 500C, but ridiculously cheap for an item that well preserved. Usually a near-mint 500c/m is around 1500 $ on ebay. If you get lucky like that, you can find a clean Hasselblad for a cheap price. I paid my 503CX around 1500, which I consider to be a fair price for such a well preserved item. I've seen 503CXs in worse condition selling for over 2000.
