Ok to use digital if you are a member of apug?

Me and Technology don't often get on...in retrospect, a bad decision to initially choose the path of computer programmer for my life. Either way, digital technology is a part of the modern world, take it or leave it, cant do much about it, so I call it as ok.

(You know, I dig the suits the Amish wear, this could be an excellent excuse to pick one up huh?)

Yes, no problem using the digital camera. As has been said use the right equipment for the appropriate job. Just don't discuss using the digital camera here on APUG.

Keep the batteries fresh.
Use it when the real thing is not around or handy.
Use it late at night when everyone has gone to bed.
Don't overuse it or it may become addictive.
Try not to make too much noise when using it.
Using it in public is generally considered rude.
Don't share it.
And always wash it in soap and water after every use.

It is OK to use digital imaging beside photography?

If you like it, it is fine. If you do not like it is a problem if you have to use. I use painting beside photography so what is wrong?
Marko I just do not recommend use of digital imaging if you have artistic aspiration. It is new media with target to commercial (e.g. advertising, war, news,…) and personal imaging (mom, a dog, …) that have nothing in common with photography except that it is able to produce a print like many other mediums. Might be it is time for you to sit with yourself and figure out “what is photography”? If you really like to use some other medium beside photography drawing is much better choice than digital imaging. Anyway your choice.

When I first got interested in photography I was shooting a DSLR and was a big defender of it. Now I'm primarily interested in large format film, and on the digital sites I frequent I'm a defender of film over digital.

That said, when I spent 2 months working in Africa last year, and on some vacations this year, I went the digital route. Whatever the technical and procedural drawbacks of digital, it's good enough and it's very convenient.

It's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm a relative newbie to this site, but I'd imagine that the philosophy here is not 'anti-digital'. It's just that this is one of few huge, great resources for the film user, and it would be unfortunate to let this site become overwhelmed with digi-talk a la photo.net and dpreview and fredmiranda.

I don't see why it would be a problem to own and use a digital camera. They make great bookends.

They're pretty good paper weights too. I have one and use it when I really do need the picture right now for some reason. That doesn't happen often though.

Recently, when my jeep got stuck, I was able to jam a 300D under one of the wheels for extra traction. The shape of the thing really provided the bite needed between the mud, and the lugs on my tire.

I shoot some jobs in digital because that is the right tool for that job, but I don"t try to make this ANOTHER Digi forum. Shoot what ever you want but this is a film based group to discuss old school photography.
