I look on such incidents as opportunities to promote film. A polite answer helps us all much more that a rebuff.

I'm sure that was her point. But who dies that?? It's just a shame that people don't get the full facts before they open their pie-holes. Of course, a pompous ass like that would never be prone to let facts influence her sense of superiority.
A quick belt 'round the back of the head with a Rollei would also be sooo much more satisfying than one with a digital elph.Maybe there are cases where violence solves everything.

You might have asked if he'd still want Babe Ruth on his team.
Carry an Argus C-3 for just these occasions. Makes a fearsome wound, what with all those sharp edges.

I agree, and that's what I did, despite the provocation to answer sharply.
Most people know zip about photography in general, especially conventional photography. Their "knowledge" about conventional photography seems to boil down to it's old, and uses all those CHEMICALS, which to the uninformed means pollution.
Do what I do when confronted with one of these people: try asking them what they actually know about how photographs are made (conventional photographs, that is, not fauxtographs, made with digital resources), and then educate them. Be positive, and proactive. You may make a friend, and a devotee to the cause of Real Photography.

What's the Big Hang Up here?
