Hi all, I'm very new to APUG and have a question regarding the norita 66. I've recently been given a metered norita outfit very kindly by a grandfather in law but it's not in a usable state. The shutter won't cock on either D nor N. I'm wondering if this is a common problem and if anyone has had any experience with this? Also if there is anyone in Australia who is prepared to have a look at it for me, so far all the repair agents said they wouldn't even have the time to look. It's in beautiful condition and I just really want to start running some rolls through it!
Cheers in advance

Well, you have to get used to some breakdowns when you have a Norita 66. It's an good camera with an amazing 80mm lens when all is well. I've had mine for 6 years now and it's been in for service twice during that time. It's actually the least reliable camera I own. Did I mention the 80mm f2 Noritar?

You need to have the knob on the side of the body and the lever under the left side knob on top turned to "D" in order to dry fire the camera.

There are a few places in the US that will service them. My local repairman thought it was a fairly simplistic camera, though he was glad that I gave him a copy of the repair manual when I left it with him.

There must be someone in Australia who can service it.

Oh that's good at least there is a little bit of hope. Yes the 80mm looks like a dream to shoot with! Do you still have a copy of the repair manual I would be able to download?

Hi Karl

May I ask who you sent your Norita to get serviced? I just got mine back from a stuck shutter. Fired it and it is stuck again. There has got to be somebody that is a specialist on these cameras.

Thanks!

I'm more than prepared to have a look at it, play with it, then run away with it, but I'm not a camera tech...

Even new!

Norita cameras were unreliable even when new,out of the box, during the days when you could walk into a camera store and buy a camera brand new. It had the reputation of a camera to avoid although a seductive design. Use as a paper weight.

Reputations are hearsay - I have 5 - Rittreck 66, Werner 66, 2 Norita 66s, and a Graflex Norita 66.

They all run flawlessly after servicing as we end 2015. In fact, I prefer the older Rittreck and Werner for looks, lack of finish wear, and the existence of mirror lockups.

I guess Ive been lucky -

Welcome to APUG

Any camera or lens that has sat without being used for years will need a CLA [Clean, Lubrication, and Adjustment] buy a service technician because the greases and oils get gummy. This is normal. It would help to know where you are so that we can recommend someone to help you. Dead Link Removed will perform CLAs and repairs as necessary. I have used them for years and I have been happy with their work.

Does anybody know about a place in Europe to fix this little beast?
