We gather at my Sister In-Law house for most "occasions".
For the last several years, "everybody" has taken Pictures/Video with some type of Phone/Apple product. Those things are ubiquitous, right.? Then the pics/videos get emailed to family and friends.....everybody loves it.! I like it.!.....but the wife and I do not have that kind of cell phone.
Sunday, I decide to burn up the color film in my Canon Sure Shot that has been in it for 1-2 years.
1. Mother in-law says.....Oh No, don't take MY Picture.!
2. Niece and daughter say.....We feel uncomfortable when you point that at us. We feel like we have to stop and pose for you.
3. Other Gems from the day.
a. What if we don't like the way we look.?
b. The flash is scaring the dog.
c. How is "everybody" going to see the pictures.?
d. Why do you use "that old thing".?
e. But, you can't tell what the pictures are going to look like, what good is that.? (kind of relates to "a")
SEVEN Frames.......Seven F'ing frames is all I took...!!
We were there for 2-3 hours.
For 1-1/2 hours, all those people could talk about was watching some movie called (i think) The Dead Game.....some kind of super hero movie.
So they PAY to watch it on Cable Television. It was on for about 20 minutes before we left.....They all sat down to watch it...the wife and sister go upstairs to "burn one" and I tag along with them...then, when we leave, I notice 5 of the 8 people are Thumbing/Staring at their cell phones, while the movie... that they Had To See... trudges across the screen and into oblivion
What does this have to do with Nikon (assuming you are still reading this short story) you ask.?
I had stuffed some Ilford FP4 into a Nikon FM, but due the comments from the relatives, I decided to just leave that horrible, beast of a device in the bag.
I hope they all got in car wrecks on their way home.
Happy Mothers Day
