Fabulous images! I'm guessing that's secret service guys in the hats around the open topped car?
I don't know, it looks like most people wore a hat back then.
For these kind of slides (Plus, its a huge archive of +250 slides taken by Bill) I would use my Epson V750, as it can scan a lot more at once and the resolution (Optically I would say 2100 DPI) is sufficient for the parade and enough for the shots of the TV. But as far as I know, Vuescan doesn't have the programming to detect a slide tray to automatically crop each slide. So I would have to manually select a slide, scan it, and select the next one.
Why not use Nikon Scan, which has exactly this feature? well, it doesn't allow me to control the crop. I have noticed it cuts off parts of the slide. This is completely unacceptable.
So I got to use my Nikon 8000, and then I might as wel scan at 4000 DPI while I am at it.
