If anyone has FE2 with that super common problem and doesn't use it because of that... I'd gladly have it (EU if possible). FE2 is almost half the price of FM2. Take down further half because of non-functioning AE and you have an FM2 functionality for a quarter of the price. The need for batteries then doesn't seem that bad...

I consider the FE2 a superior camera. As well as FE>FM.

Nikon thought so too, the FE was priced higher, and received interchangeable screens when the FM had not.

There are a number of analog switches in the cameras. I think one of more of them are bad.

Exactly. That's what I mentioned too. The camera just requires routine service. Switches corrode over time, or get dirty, and some times misadjust due to wear (something that can be compensated for).

FE2 and FE are excellent cameras.
