Like somebody else said, I thought that the Nikon F was pretty good until I handled an F2. With the F2, Nikon fixed all the F's little annoying quirks.

The original F with its slide-off removable back used to drive photographers crazy while trying to change films under fire, in Vietnam, and although the F2 back was removable it was also hinged which made reloading it much easier.
