Well, I remember on APUG some zealots of analog photography making some insulting comments (dog s**t and the like) whenever the discussion touched ever so remotely anything d*****l. Disclosure: I do all my hobby photography on film, and use d* only for documentation.

Oh gosh one of my first posts in the APUG days was in response to a suggestion that we list our cameras......I ran off a long list of film cameras and mentioned that I sometimes used a Nikon D50 too....and there were a couple of zealots who suggested there and then that I should be banished for even mentioning the dreaded d******. I have seen other newcomers put off by an innocent brief mention of non-analogue photography being met with a barrage of unpleasant posts. Often it was the newbie comparing results from their newly found interest in film with the familiar of d****** and genuinely wanting to know the reasons behind it.

I never have attempted and never will attempt to contact you. As for your other two requests, sorry, the answer is no. I'll continue replying to anything I want. You may, of course, feel free to place me on your ignore list. That would help ameliorate your difficulty in dealing with others who disagree.

It's "digital." Feel free to spell it out. There's no reason not to at PHOTRIO. Just like there's no reason not to spell out eBay. They're all just words. Words with meaning.

People, this is embarrassing to read. A few pages ago, this was an interesting and useful thread, and it could be again. This (blowing up threads with asinine bickering) makes people less likely to visit Photrio. Perhaps you don't care, but many here do.

If Kodak... or someone... comes out with a "real" infra-red film, like HIE, then I will know then that analogue has been truly revived. Time to pick up a new turn table, too!

The Infra red film sold under the Rollie name is not far off the Kodak HIE version but with an antihalation layer included. It would be so easy to omit the AH layer in manufacture then it would be even closer. I don't like the current range of Kodak films except the T Max 100, now if they reintroduced the 25ASA Technical Pan - there was a film without an equal. You had to process it carefully, but if you did and the camera used had been on a tripod the results were astoundingly good.

I have used Rollie IR for several years now, and it is quite different than HIE. I could get tremendous wood effect with just a #25 filter. Efke IR was much closer to HIE. I have a few precious sheets of it left...
Speaking of AH layer, I've removed it (at least I think I did) from a couple of sheets of Rollie. Just waiting for a bright, sunny day here to do a comparative test of Rollie with and without the layer.

I am really happy with the current Ektachrome. I don't miss Kodachrome as much as I use to.

I just wish for more film and support in the US from ADOX.

Nope. Neither readily accessible nor any more necessary than Leica or Zeiss lenses are for compariing "analog" and digital.

Are you projecting them.?
Reason i ask is, I moved... "Recently"... and just came across the boxes that contain my projector and carousels.
So when i read your post, it just made me curious .

I use Ektachrome 100 and I mainly project. I like it better than Kodachrome now. The color is more natural.

Who would have thought that any slide film would return to market...... though it can always go away.
I have not heard anything bad about Ektachrome

I haven't used the new Ekatchrome but I am told by the staff at my local camera shop that they were requested to order some in by a few customers when it finally came back, and said customers were very impressed and continue to buy it.
