Hopefully this is a hit! Looks like a beautiful piece. Made in Wetzlar is cool. Not sure about initials. Custom makes it non-returnable?
I just hope that this is a hit!

I was hoping it would be less than 3000€, but it is as it is. Not for me. Over 6000 USD in Europe.

I'm not looking for anymore Leica cameras. I've noticed that there seems to not be stock of Leica M6, MP bodies at B&H, I also looked at Leica US and showed out of stock. The restraint of trade is having a predictable impact.

Now down to 198 left... I'm thinking about it, even though I have been shooting 120 and larger recently... and I won't be buying a 35mm camera for other purposes I don't think.

It'll be $5200 or so in the US with tariffs. Honestly, not terrible and for a small production, hand-built item, it's perfectly in-line with what I'd expect. Less than I initially figured, actually.

Does anyone else feel that the industrial-feel crinkle paint on the original F* model was the absolute pinnacle for a camera like this, and that it's a shame they don't appear to be replicating that on the new camera? I could also go for a hammertone paint. Both of those have the mid-century industrial look/feel that I think suits this camera perfectly.

Did anyone order one? I'm trying to understand if they immediately want to charge a CC or if they wait until the 14-day period is up to charge, or if the charge comes ahead of them shipping. That isn't clearly defined on the site...

I'm out at this cost but agree it isn't unexpected for what it is. FWIW this looks like full charge straight up to me but ymmv (from the website.)
  • Payment: Full payment at preorder
  • Cancellation: 14-day voluntary period from order
  • Refund: Full refund if not shipped within 12 months

I think they'll struggle with those terms.
Customisation to trap people into an order is not good business practice.

Who holds escrow on the funds? Too many unknowns to hit a buy button for me.

It seems like a way to get around EU/German rules that would require them to allow cancellation right up to the point the camera ships. I can understand why such a rule would be annoying and difficult to deal with as such a small manufacturer. They're pretty obviously taking money up front to pay for production of the cameras.

But it does come off a bit shady.

They've sold 168 preorders in less than a day, so there's something resembling a market for a super-premium panoramic film camera in 2026. I never would have thought that possible.

I wonder how many buyers are purchasing the WideluxX as a collectable rather than a usable camera?

That's great. I hope they sell out in a week. It's a great looking camera. Looks like they've improved the rewind knob and a few other things. Being manufactured in Wetzlar bodes well. This is a major selling point. Not designed in Germany, assembled elsewhere.
Like I've mentioned I really hope this is a huge success and a business that keeps going!
