ADOX LUPEX is a slow speed contact fibre paper made with a silver chloride emulsion and replaces Kodak Azo or Fomalux.
The speed is about 8 stops lower than MCC but therefore it is extremely finegrained and yields a superior resolution just like your large format negatives.

Great news! A couple of questions if I may:

- I see grade 3 on the sticker; what is the ISO Range R?
- 8x10 seems to be the smallest size, do you paln to cut it to 5x7 as well?
- I see Fomalux to be still belisted by Foma Bohemia, you say replacement?
- Coated by InovisCoat?

Fomalux has not been availbale for quite a while and they told us they will not continue to manufacture it but ofcourse Foma may change their minds.
We can cut more sizes if there is demand.
When we remanufacture or manufacture a photographic product we do the measurements in comparison to existing products (relative measurements). We can´t do absolute ISO measurements and we feel that hardly anyone today can make use of them.

The Agfa Lupex recipe is from the 1920ies. It contains uncontroled makes with different salts, chicken albumin and active gels. So as far as the emulsion manufacturing is concerned it´s not the same but the photographic charecteristics come close.

We cannot plot a characteristic curve because we have no Ulbricht´s ball but we can plot the curve in relative exposure steps and will do so in a few days. Some of the information you require is already in the product description and techsheet but we will add to this.
I can make a comparative surface gloss measurement but the gloss depends on many things like the way it was dried, the age and if a wetting agent was present.
The tone in MCC developer is quite neutral for such a slow speed paper.

This is a niche market product. Freestyle will most likely base their decisions on the Fomalux sales and remaining stock.
We ship to the US from Germany for just 29 EUR. There are no ever recorded problems with Xray damage in postal service parcels -not even with film- and this paper is so slow in speed that you can safely get it from here for the time being.

By "boutique" I mean "small quantities of materials tailored to a limited market of enthusiasts" and by "analog" (or "analogue" and I do read enough UK authors that I sometimes spell some words with variant spelling in the UK manner like occasionally writing "colour" over here) - anyway, by that of course I just mean traditional, non-digital photographic materials.

Ah ok, nothing about what I said exactly, just the reality it references.

Still, it's not as bad as it could have been. It's no secret that the Kodaks and Fujis of the film world have had trouble adapting to a much smaller market when they are set up to produce huge quantities of materials. Smaller more agile (in the business sense of course) companies like Adox will be able to better supply markets like what film is becoming, and the other uses for coating technology should help keep coaters like Inoviscoat available for utilization by such companies who may not be able to set up their own coating lines or for whom it would not be practical for reasons of economy or other reasons. I think the future of film, at least in black and white, is pretty bright for those of us still interested in it. It will never again be a mainstream common large consumer interest, though.
