New Reflex camera

But for the price of a Reflex you can get a great lot of FD-mount bodies. Unlikely they all would die the same time, if at all.

Also, Canon had decades of development into cameras like the F-1N, whereas the Reflex is an unknown quantity.

The Reflex camera mounts do not retain the auto diaphragm mechanism for any of the lenses, so it's stop down metering and exposure, which made the camera design a non-starter for me. It's a 1950s design.

And at least an automatic diaphragm yield even the early, mechanical FL-mount bodies.
 
At December 7th this thread ended. And since that day we did not hear anything from the Reflex firm(?) either. They sheduled their start of manufacturing for May, and stated to keep us informed about every step.
 
Last update was they were wishing everyone a happy new year.

I think their camera became too complex. I had hoped for a simple mechanical camera.
 
It is indeed awkward there is no communication on the Kickstarter web site after Jan/Feb.

Accidentally I was looking at the Rollei SL26, and the history of the 126 film format, and the problems they had with tight tolerances for the cartridge. When I look at the design of the Reflex I see a strikingly similar removable back.

Perhaps they realised that the "design team" hasn't the ghost of a clue.
 
Everyone thinks if they could hook up an Arduino for software, the rest must be easy. Then the supporters call people like us "unsupportive of dreams"...
 
Is there some progress or communication we're not seeing? I would expect that those who contributed a few hundred dollars or Euros in return for a camera would be worried by now - yet I don't see that.

Last year I decided not to get one: my reasoning was that if it ever became a reality, I'd examine it then.
 
I am, kind of, surprised this was not turned into an April Fools post.....
 
I looked through their kickstarter website. The last official communication is around Jan 1st wishing everyone a great New Years. Then in the Comments section people are now starting to grumble asking where their rewards are. No feedback from the Reflex team since mid February. Nothing posted to their Facebook page since early December. Starting to smell like a scam kickstarter to me!
 
Scam? I'd like to be charitable and say the very obvious, simple incompetence and cluelessnes. But I think there's some scam in there too.
 
comes with an interchangible lens mount to so you can use nikon or pentax or m42 glass
has both a continuous LED and flash ( with 3 intensities ) and removable film backs.
if i had need of another 35mm camera sounds like it would be nice.
 
Well, that can basically be done currently by adapter rings.
New with the Reflex camera was that the feature of substituting mount systems is part of the body design already. But if you want to do this better than with current adapters a lot of problems arise.

The problem I see is that gathering a photographer, a mechanical engineer and an industrial designer together is not necessarily is sufficient to design and manufacture a new camera model.
 
At this point I wonder if they will deliver anything. Perhaps all the money they raised is already gone.

They're not anonymous, but perhaps they don't care.
 
Kickstarter does not necessitate to give name and address or even prescribes to be a legally enlisted firm, at least I did not find such.
Well, in another camera project the enlisted firm was even fake.
 
I stopped reading their Kickstarter when they mentioned they are using an arduino as the production electronics/software. IMHO this tells all about the level of understanding they have in engineering.

Did they ever have a functioning prototype.?
 
According to their Instagram page they did have some sort of a prototype, but then again the last post there is from November 28th. Seemes like they were much more communicative before and during the kickstarter campaign.

Actually ALL project related (public) information stopped after they announced that they cashed in the money.
