Tonight I added a page all about an adventure with a Graflex 3A Postcard 3¼X5½ format 122 rollfilm, gigantic curtain shutter camera. Restoration (of a sort) and first fruit images.

Well, of course, now you're going to have to find the glass plate adapter and get plates from J.Lane. MUCH easier to handle than four feet of wide roll film.
Still, a pretty nice end result for a "throw away" camera you bought just for the lens...
"So the next problem is the 122 roll film. Luckily I had a reel in the camera and another one from who knows where, but 2 reels available...."
Most people: "ah sh*t, I run out of commonly available (35mm, 120, 4x5) film..."
Jim Galli: "hmm, so it takes this film format that no one has spoken of in 60 years, but whatever, let me see my drawer, oh yea, here are five reels of them. They will do before I dig some more..."
Geez, I just randomly made up the 60 years part, and I wasn't far off!!!
Thanks! I do too! It's sort of like an elongated 4X5. Squashed and stretched. If the film was available, it would be like a poor man's 7X11 format. But alas . . .I really like the Postcard 3¼X5½ format. I wonder why it kinda vanished.
Nice car and photos, btw. Thanks for sharing.
As someone who's just getting started with LF , I just wanted to say thanks sharing the inspirational photos and your knowledge on this this subject. I'll probably never get there but, I have something to aim for.
I normally is not a huge "car guy", but those Galli photos definitely are a class by themselves!

Jim,Portraits with 4 ecclectic lenses.
My web pages have gone missing now for 3 weeks. The service that I have paid for 20 years to host my little web site seems to have vanished. I fear that 20 years of effort and a valuable resource may be lost. No one answers the phone in Utah where the money went for 20 years.
Me too! They didn't take the usual June payment though. Silence is scary. That's very upsetting. I hope its a temporary glitch and that it can be resolved.
I hope you're not saying this before clicking on your web address in own signature. Error 404.The most recent backup is from Feb 24 2020 : https://web.archive.org/web/2020022...ures.0catch.com:80/RecentWork/RecentWork.html
I had your problem 15 years ago. From one day to the next the server host went off the grid. I lost a decade of online articles. Thank goodness for the waybackmachine. Since then, I pay hosting at 60 km from where I live. If there's a problem, I can physically visit them (never needed to in 15 years).
My domain name host (Gandi.net, $15 a year) is SEPARATE from my server host and has proven extremely reliable. Should there ever be a problem, I can upload backups of my sites to a new server host, link the domain name to the new server, and everything is up and running again within hours.
There are better looking ways to go off line though.Yeah, I know. I have to disable the address in my signature because that site has been down for major restructuring for some time now and won't go up again before several months.
