Hard to get excited about a new film camera when the cost of film has tripled and processors have dried-up. Although probably not a concern when paying Leica prices.

if you can afford a Rolls-Royce, you dont worry about the price of fuel, if you can aford a Leica, you don't worry about the price of film. several folks have hinted over the last few years that 12 bucks a roll is about the break even point if you have to include the total cost of Capital used.

The hardest part of returning the M6 into production will be moving the factory back to Solms.
they used to make the M4 in Midland Ontario. (that factory is now a defense contractor) I am sure that the company can find a good location to build a new unit.

Ok, it is real and it is coming. How do I know? I spoke to a Leica shop - who I will not name to protect their innocence - and they said they could not speak about it because it is still under embargo.

edit: they confirmed a camera, not what type of camera. I’m still hoping for a new CM.

I'm very interested. Seeing as I have an M6ttl I won't be in the market. Leicas are just darn cool. I hope this pans out and is a neat camera.

I keep getting oily feeds on IG from Leica, saying how their roots were in film, and why don't I look at their website for advice. So they could be building up to something.

Limited edition of 500. So the 23rd limited edition M6 series!

This is so big. Now I'm going to need to buy 23 different M6 cameras. Somebody's gonna need to explain this to my wife. ☺️

500 cameras that's not enough to last a month. Little known fact, each camera will come, boxed, with a roll of CatLABS newest film X 160 plus!

500 M6 cameras at $4800 -- sounds more like a fundraiser than a product release. Almost none of those will ever run a roll of film.

Well I'm out. Not that I was every realistically in the market, but I had hopes that it *might* come in below $3k and I could maybe justify it.

Now keep this between you and me Chris.. you can buy a brand spankin new MP from reddotcamera in the UK for 3700 GBP. You can use it for a bit and then sell it here in the US for more than you bought it for.
Remember, this is between you and me.

Still a bit steep, but they have M2s for a decent price. Next time I'm over there, I need to stop by in person.

It’s better to mail order as they automatically remove the VAT. If you buy there, you will have a lot of paperwork to deal w to get that VAT back.
