Fujifilm has announced that the INSTAX square film is ONLY for Europe. It will NOT be coming to Asia or the US. Absolutely INSANE. Fujifilm is just beyond stupid.

"Fujifilm also announced a new Instax film format, Instax Square, which is coming to Europe next year. As of now there are no plans for it to go one sale in the US."

In the past we criticized Fuji for neglecting marketing Instax in Europe.
Now they seemingly will do so and are bashed again...

Nobody is bashing Fujifilm for marketing this film in Europe. Can you not read?

Well, if I can buy it online from an European retailer, that's ok.

This format seems to be perfect for proofing 6x6. Now I just have to design and 3D print a back for my Hasselblad!

Cheers,
Flavio

So they're testing the film in Europe, to see if they'll get more total sales, or if at this point the consumer instant film market is saturated and this film will only compete with the other Instax formats?

Not testing, just selling. On multiple web sites Fujifilm marketing has stated that they have no intention to sell this film in the US. Idiots.

I am curious about a universal back for the 'Wide' film (Lomo makes/made one, for example), but how is this square film better than masking down rectangular 'Mini' size Instax?

So what's the line include now, colour mini/wide/square and monochrome mini ?

I'll agree that what we need are some good cameras.

At this point the only advantages of the legacy products are a) better cameras b) nicer photo quality/photo presentation with peel apart packfilm.

A new quality fuji camera which could take all 3 sizes of film would be epic.

I find the Mini format really small. If I would use it I would do so becauses of the smaller camera, thus a Wide/Mini dual format would not make sense for me.

That's a good point.

I find it really small as well. To me the Mini format almost seems experimental/a toy with how small it is.
