Hello,

I came in from the snow this morning for coffee. A guy was sitting across from me, reading the paper, with a black Nikon FM2 on the counter. For some reason, it reminded me of my own photography (my camera), and this site.

So 'hello' . It's a blizzard out in the normally "rainy" Vancouver, BC this morning. Glad to be inside, but wondering if I'll slide all the way home.:surprised:

Hi there from up the coast in Kitimat & welcome aboard APUG

There are a few lower mainlanders here. Try checking out the Vancouver forum; (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Have fun in the snow!

Murray

Welcome!

If you feel miserable with the weather there, we got 15 cm of snow last night and it's dropping to -37 C (not counting the wind chill), so Vancouver could always be worse.

Welcome from about 400 k's NE of you. I love it when Vancouverites complain about the snow!!

Kent:

Welcome from Delta & New Westminster.

Like your photos (especially the dogs ).

Hope you enjoy APUG.

Matt

P.S. For everyone who doesn't live around here, it isn't the snow that bothers us, it is the snow and the roads! (and this year, the parking spots and sidewalks too)

Welcome and hello from Granville and Broadway. We are getting ready to go for a walk and a shoot. Yesterday we did the same -- I love the look of Vancouver under snow.

Greetings from Florida and I miss the snow!

Hello from halfway across the country. It's snowing here as I write this.

Welcome from a former Manitoban now living in Kamloops -- we have quite a lot of snow here too, which is normal for me, but the locals are quite shocked

Greetings from snowy Coquitlam. It's still snowing (or is that again...I've lost track. We're up to about 30" (a larger bunch of centimetres) in my backyard now.)

Like Matt alludes to, it's not the snow that bothers us, it's the having to go about daily life in an area where a single snowfall can totally blow the municipal budget and folks refuse to acknowledge the driving conditions are any different than normal.

Dave

Love Kamloops. (shocking, I know...) Went to UCC, now TRU for two years.

Ahh...TRU -- I've been working there since September, classes start Monday and I'm still waiting to hear if (and what) I'll be teaching in the winter semester! :surprised:

Welcome to APUG from western Massachusetts. Snow? - Bah Humbug!!!

I was in Fine Arts there. Say hi to Don L., Andrew W. and Darlene K. if you happen to know them. :D

Welcome to APUG from Calgary - we have lots of snow and -25C temperatures.

Gord

Who's complaining? I love the snow! The only time I complain is when it rains for 2-3 weeks straight.

The rain is the main reason we moved out of there. That and the hour and a half commute each way from Coquitlam. I hear the traffic is better, but the rain doesn't sounds like it's lightened up at all!

Hello from the Island! If you are ever heading over here, give me a shout.

Snowing again in Nanaimo. And it's not the snow, it the not clearing it that's the problem. In the 3+ weeks since it started snowing every day or 2 our road has been plowed twice. Lots of other places haven't been plowed at all. Last week, trying to see a client who was way overdue for a postpartum visit, I was stuck in a snow bank for 2 hours - forced there by someone who doesn't know how to drive in the snow. I had a shovel with me but it took a local with a small bobcat to get me out.

Wish I had the money for a trip to Mexico this year!

Thanks all, for the welcomes!

I guess I'll have to subscribe soon if I want to look at the galleries.

Sly, I was stuck last night. I was forced to turn around because the path was blocked by a delivery truck. Got stuck on some ice while halfway turned around. I really appreciated the people in the apartment building, staring through their blinds at me while I struggled to get my car moving. Nothing like being watched, while annoyed.

Well I looked out the window this morning and SNOW again in Vancouver. One of the reasons I move out here from ALTA was to avoid the white hell. 8:00 pm Stlll snowing. (I'm glad I splurged on a macro kit gives me something to shoot at) I think we are setting a few snow fall records this year. Welcome to APUG. You can tell the younger generation " Ya I lived through the snow storm from 2008 until 2009. !! "

But one good thing, any shots I do I get, I get excellent contrast with black and white
And another thing. We were some of the last people to celebrate 2009. Makes you almost feel left out. But the scenery here make others envious of our shots. !!

PNW stops at the 49th parallel, then it's the Pacific Southwest. (or at least that's a Canadian perspective...)

It's Sunday afternoon and now it's alternating between rain and snow, but the temp. is hovering around freezing and we've a wind and rain warning with 30mm of rain expected overnight. Monday's commute (that over-an-hour from Coquitlam to West Point Grey one) promises to be "fun".

I wish I was heading to Florida about now.
