I haven't shot any film since 1999 when I got a Fuji S1 Pro. I've got a D700 that I've used semi-professionally (occasional wedding, just enough to pay for gear). But the D700 is just too heavy to walk around with all day for fun, so I picked up a nice N80 cheap and I've been having fun trying different films and stuff.

I got so excited about using film again I also picked a beat-up, but functional FE and a 24 2.8 AI to play with too. I ride motorcycles a lot so I wanted something I could throw in the tail pack and not worry about scratching anything up.

Just thought I'd try to learn more about film since I haven't shot it in a while.

The FE and 24mm 2.8 AI combination is one of my favorites as well. A bright 50mm to that and I would need nothing more.

APUG is an excellent place to learn more about film.

Welcome and enjoy the Nikons. As someone mentioned a small bright 50mm lens is a must and can be had very cheaply, typically they're the cheapest (or close to that) lens in the lineup. An f2.0 of f1.8 would do you fine.

Thanks for the welcome.

Christopher, I ride a Buell Ulysses and and SV 650. I've got a Ram camera mount that I can use instead of a tripod. The Buell's great for exploring fire roads.

I have a 50 1.8 AF-D that I use on the N80, it also works on the FE. I also intend to use my 105 2.8 Micro Af-d. That's the nice part of buying AF-D lenses over the years, they work with all 3 bodies. It's also why I didn't get a D3000 or D5000, they won't work with my lenses. These film bodies do.

Welcome and have fun!

My favorite 35mm film is panF 50 speed. The quality of it with a nice lens is like shooting with a medium format.
