New film - Rollei RPX 25

How do you get the wooden box? I asked freestyle and they said the films used to come in boxes but don't anymore... Has this changed back?

Those wooden boxes had been introduced with or short after the introduction of the Rollei film brand by Maco.

Since some time Maco do no longer offer them.

I also use and like PAN F Plus. The substrates seem to be different in colour. However, the perfect flatness of both, the high quality of the coatings, the perfect alignment of the tape to paper backing, the die cutting of the boxes, the style of the spools, the way the foil wrapping is sealed; all make me think that ILFORD (HARMAN) has something to do with this new film. If anything, that gives me confidence in addition to me already liking the film. I'll be sticking with it.

Indeed. I like Pan F+ a lot too and if Harman is making this it's a good sign for its quality.

If I ever figure out a use for an ISO 25 film I'll try some. Not being flippant, I know a lot of you like slow film.

It's a high quality film. The substrate is bluish, which is no problem. It also lays as flat as flat can be. Grain is small. Contrast seems to be controllable. Tonal range is what I'd hoped for. It developed alright in OBSIDIAN AQUA at 1 in 500, for 12 minutes semi-stand @ 20 deg. C. The packaging is exactly the same as ILFORD 120 films except for the words. The anti halation coating soaks off in a black flush. The reciprocity factor I based on the figures Mahn sent me, which were 1/1000 – 1“ no change, 2“ becomes 3“, 10“ becomes 20“, 20“ becomes 50“, 50“ becomes 180“.

Photograph looks very good.
Bluish base ? Foma is using blue base. And it dries flat to, bat Foma base seems not to be as thick as Ilford or Kodak stuff. Foma also use a huge amounts of dye, one water pre-bath is usually not removing everything and the developer comes out still light blue.

b&h lists it, in 120 & 35, the 127 is already listed as discontinued.

It was an information mistake by an import agent.
Concerning type 127 in general, there is an uncertainty at the moment about the ability to have such conversions done at all.

I ordered 120 roll film and 135-36 film today.

BTW: did anyone use the recommended developer Rollei RPX-D before?
Any good?

Personally I wouldn't use RPX-D.

My impression is that it's aimed at pushing RPX 400, and my experience is that it gives quite a bit of grain. Not the kind of thing you want from a 25 ASA film.

I used it, but only for pushing RPX 400 film. It is far too expansive for general use.

I've used a few 250 ml bottles, and I've found that it's keeping qualities are limited. As for pushability I'm not very impressed either. For RPX400 I use Rodinal 1:25 (rated EI250) and the grain is not a problem imho.

As Oskar sai, the developer has a limited shelf life. The pushing effect on RPX 400 was remarkable, I got true 1000 ASA from this film. Grain was moderate and higlights did not block.

Hello Aurelien, is the shipping a fixed rate? In other words are 20 rolls the same as 10 rolls or does it vary? Were the pictures hand held and are they 35mm or 120?

Just received my five boxes of 135. EAN code is 4024953825110, expiry date JAN 2018, Made in EU, DX barcode is 830254. That is DX code 189-1, which I can't find in my file from 2009, so most likely a new emulsion.

Enough detective work, time to take some photographs!

You know that the barcode system is completely silly ? that does not mean anything else that the number printed on the cartridge. That do not prove anything regarding the emulsion.

The DX code tells you the factory as Part 1 of the code is assigned to specific manufacturers.
