Depends on what you understand as OK. Kodak in the past gave hints at extrem push development, including XTol as developer.

A current german developer designed for push processing whilst retaining shadow detail, yields at most EV 2000 for a ISO 400 film.

.

Yes unless it is D3200 or Kodak P3200 then OK is by the standards of most of us a "stretch" beyond what is OK With either of the films mentioned it might be just about acceptable but as it is a 400 speed film this rules these out so that leaves Tri-X or HP5+ as possible contenders. However to the best of my knowledge these are not made for rebranders

As I said most of the article needs to be taken with a "pinch of salt" i.e. it is not meant to be accurate which is fair enough when talking about film noir, Harry Lime etc In fact it might be quite entertaining but I feel that that kind of entertainment should stop when it comes to film speed claims.

Not that my opinion matters to those who re-name existing films or those who buy such films and its their money so that's fine

But we should not forget there are people that want to hear such stories and to buy the respective products. And who likely consider us Apuggers as spoilsports.

Yea fair I see where you are coming from, I own a lab and the issue I see with so many amateurs getting into this, is that these gimmicky films get sold to them and there's a lot of misinformation on what the film actually is. And we're constantly having to explain to people that all these films they buy are just repackaged. we already have kosmofoto which is repackaged fomapan, now ez400. Not actual photographer would buy this, it's literally just preying on amateurs in my opinion. Of course it's not sinister, I have nothing against the guy that makes this film. Just my opinion. We've had multiple customers ask us why we don't "formulate" our own film and I have to explain to them I can't just send an email to kodak and get my own film. A new film would be millions in r&d. These aren't "new" films. Anyways I guess it is good for the industry to have new products to generate interest, even if they don't do anything new or actually different

I remember when repackaged movie film was sold with prints and slides from the same roll if you processed through the company. Heck, I use to sell Illfochrome color microfilm as well as a variety of Diazo materials from James River Graphics so I cant say too much about others repackaging film, I suppose.

At lease people are buying and shooting film. Let us just hope their experience is a good enough one to keep them shooting film

True but my worry and this pertains to Bob's comment in #79 is that one day the truth has a way of getting through to people and it is at that point that the best that happens is that they still buy the "real" film be that Kentmere, Foma etc in the same quantities or they tire of being sold illusions at a premium and stop buying.

Anyone who can save me money for the same quality of item is never a spoilsport as far as I am concerned

When it comes to all these "independent" films, I'm afraid it may be necessary to take our lead from Jack:

Nice one Matt . I still see him with an axe chasing his kid in a pedal car along those hotel corridors. All those years ago my son loved that film. He had a similar pedal car and I think pictured himself in the same chase I can only hope he did not have me in the role of Jack

I don't think he did as I got an invitation to his wedding a few years ago :D

God! I am getting old
