Ugh.Email I received from CATSA for YVR:
"We recommend that you put undeveloped film and cameras containing undeveloped film in your carry-on baggage or take undeveloped film with you to the checkpoint and ask the screener to conduct a hand inspection."
The last time I asked them in March 2017, they said film is safe up to 400 ISO. I guess not so today. And the last time I asked for a hand inspection, they wanted to open the sealed box of 4x5 film.
I have been wondering the same. I live in usa and shoot mostly IlfordI don't know if this has been asked already and it may be a stupid question but if I buy film online from another country and it is posted or sent by courier, how is it scanned for security?
Now I have recently bought film online from UK and from EU and both were courier delivered. The film I shot was ok, no signs of fogging caused by x-ray etc.
Thank You for the infoIt has been discussed, and the answer is basically "we don't know", with a frequently offered argument that "film manufacturers probably are aware of this and probably make the necessary arrangements to prevent x-ray damage from happening in transit". But the short answer remains: we just don't know for sure.
Ugh.
........sure we can do a hand-inspection
Excuse me sir, we need you to open these two boxes please..
Does anyone know if DFW airport has the new scanners?
It does. Here is a list of us airports with ct-scanners, albeit probably a bit outdated by now. Probably a few more now that are not on that list.

It is indeed. Is it not ironic that one of the listed airports is Greater Rochester....?
I flew home from Fargo last week and they were nice enough to warn me about the new scanner and volunteer to hand inspect. They said it would affect the outer couple of layers on the spools. I only hope the don't have the new ones at Denver, where the trip started.
Denver does not have them, went through last week.
If TSA is making people remove their laptops, they are NOT using the new scanners.
Al the more reason to travel by sailboat.
So much is unknown, because information to the innocent is also letting the smugglers and terrorist how to circumvent detection! But not on Titanic II.
Joking aside, I wonder if posting your film ahead to your destination and then posting them home for developing, would that cure the Xray problem?
Anyone know what the situation is at Edinburgh and Prague airports with these scanners? I'll be travelling through these airports over the next few days and hoping there aren't any CT scanners for carry-on baggage.
Edinburgh didn't have them as of February of last year, but travel has changed a lot since then.
For what it's worth, i recently flew out of DFW (and back) with film which was x-rayed in the carry on with no ill effects. The film was 800 speed Fuji Instax.Does anyone know if DFW airport has the new scanners?
Prague not likely to have CT in Security at Vaclav Havel for carry-on...they just got full body scanning equipment in 2019, up to 10 years after most other places.!

Asking for hand inspection in this part of the world does not work.
Should beI'm so glad that our uniformed protectors are doing such an outstanding job protecting us from all of the evil no-good-niks out there. I'm sure this small further infringement on our personal liberty will allow them to catch all of the terrorists and drug smugglers. Until, of course, they think of the next small infringement they can impose upon us "for our protection…"

I then flew back from Boston with some TriX i had shot at 1600 which i developed when I got home. That also suffered no ill effects.
Edit: by "x-ray" I mean scanned. No idea what kind of scanner it was.
