I probably shouldn't tell you I have an 8x10 camera for sale cheap then ...

aw crap! Ok.... what is it and how much?

I have been having the time of my life with the 4x5 you sold me last year... (I've even gotten some good shots :D... ) In lieu of a darkroom this summer, I've been contact printing 4x5 cyanos, I can imagine how much more detail 8x10 would add.

John, no truck... and unfortunately, my calendar is full that weekend. I would love to get out and meet some of you again, but I have stuff that can't be rescheduled. My best to everyone.

Cheers,
Tom

TOM!!

This is the Family Channel.
Please!

John: I am planning to arrive Friday afternoon, and to camp.

For others attending: I have finally talked myself into parting with some of my beloved medium format equipment to fund the purchase of additional large format lenses. I will bring this stuff if anyone thinks they might be interested:

Hasselblad 501CM body
A12 back
waist level finder
Zeiss 80mm CF T* lens
Zeiss 250mm CF T* lens
extension tube(s)

I purchased all of this equipment used but in good to excellent condition, and have taken good care of it over the years. I used it regularly until I became infected by the large format virus about a year ago, and have not used it since. The stuff deserves to be in the hands of someone who will use it rather than sitting in my closet.

Glad you're enjoying the 4x5! It's a fun format to shoot in.

Here's the details on the 8x10 for anyone interested:

Burke & James 8x10 Grover Monorail
with 2 monorail extensions
8x10 back
5x7 back
4x5 back
lens boards
custom lens board adapter to take technika boards
1 8x10 holder
20ish sheets of 8x10 film to get you started
And a nice lightweight hard nylon carrying case for it all.

I'm hoping to get $450 for the lot.

Anyone interested, let me know.

Don't want to cause problems for the mods, as this isn't the classifieds, so I'll just say...

Hmmmmmm

For those who don't know him I can say that Dan took some wonderful photos with this equipment at least those that I saw at Bill Schwab's gatherings for two years.

Your camp site awaits you.

I'll second that... Dan has some absolutely stunning prints.

John,

I will be heading to the east coast next week-end, and will join your group for the activities Friday night and Saturday. My wife, Darla, and I are planning on spending 10 days on the Maine coast, and your outing is right on the way. Am looking forward to putting some faces with some familiar names from APUG, and seeing some of their work in print as opposed to my monitor. Your agenda looks enthusiastic and well thought out. Will plan on seeing you on Friday evening, we will be staying at the Hampton Inn .

Jim Thompson

Jim,

Good to read you will be with us again and with a date. I hope this will be a great start to a wonderful trip. Does Darla go with you when you shoot or can we help her find local things that might appeal to her interests?

Where will you be going in ME if you don’t mind telling the world? We honeymooned on an island north of Boothbay in 1991 and went back by way of Acadia NP, the photography school and a watercolor workshop ten years later.

Looking forward to seeing you again. Safe journey.

John

It just might be a little crowded in the camping area this time. This morning I drove the little garden tractor down to do some bramble cutting at the edges of the field where people set up tents. I tied out the dogs at the house and they barked a bit. It should have been considered lots of noise. I was busy cutting away with a pair of three foot loppers when I noticed some movement at the top of the trail that goes out to the driveway. Passing by were apparently some of the regular residents, mom, dad and eight little turkeys. They didn’t hurry, but just vanished into the brambles.

I’m going to stay out of this one. Dan, you, Jeff, Eva, Shawn and Dorothy (if they come) are going to have to sort this out for your selves. I don’t want to play favorites, but I put some cranberry sauce in the refrigerator tonight just in case.

We do not shoot (kill, to be specific) TURKEYS!!!!

I LOVE TURKEYS!!!!! Maybe I can catch them and take them home as pets! Anyone want to help me take my pets home?

So that is why you want a larger darkroom.
".... I have the best wife in the world. While printing recently, she looked at me and commented that "our darkroom is too small. We should at least double it." This is in a darkroom that's already 15'x15' or so."

Now Sue loves Turkeys, birds of all kinds actually, but we go out looking for Turkeys down in Vinton County down by Hocking hills park. Over 85 in one hour we spotted once. Hopefully she does not catch you roping and riding a turkey to catch it and take it home. I'll let her know you have some on the property and I'm certain she will go a lookN.

Oh not just on our property. The Girls and I saw thirty turkeys together in a family group one day a few weeks ago at the entrance to Oak Hill Trail about four miles north east from the house. That is the trail where Lee L and Dorothy shot around the lovely Sylvan lake.

Yeah, I was shooting a 180mm and Dorothy was shooting a 75mm, but we didn't bag any turkeys. Maybe this year...

Eva, how does Jeff feel about turkey bacon? Or maybe turkey bacon ice cream...

Hmmph...Thanksgiving must be fun around your house! Just how does one go about stuffing a tofurkey?

be there Friday night - Sunday  broke, but I'll be there!

Good news that you will be here.
It has been too long without a Dorothy fix.

Broke must be contagious.
It precedes you.
