Great. I suggest we leave our house at 8:00 AM or earlier and head into Cleveland Saturday morning. The drive will take about 30 minutes. We can come back here about 5, show prints, go to dinner and look at more prints.

John

Sounds like a place I'll like, too, but is it ok to take the munchkin? If I shoot MF or 35mm, I can do it with him strapped to me in a carrier. I'll just need to leave a little earlier than 5 (I have to be back here Sat afternoon).

well, John suggested we go in a group and watch each others backs. I guess your back-watcher will be built in!

PM sent.

Thanks. What are they? U Akron is always looking. I know they look for Omega, but I don't remember which model. I can check if you have one of them. They keep 34 B&W ones going in two gang darkrooms and a number of color ones as well. I haven't wandered in the color darkrooms much at 85% color blind.

John

I've got an Omega DII that needs a little TLC but is intact. There's also a Beseler 23C, a Durst something (D600 maybe?) "brand new" in the styrofoam, another Beseler (Dichro 67 I think), and many more! Act now, supplies are limited ....

Anybody interested, or knows someone who is?

Thanks Jeff.

I forwarded your message to the head of the Photo Dept.

Penny wrote back that she and the Photo Dept. would be interested in the color enlargers. I don't know the units you mentioned. If any of them are color, please bring them and I will deliver. You of course will get another tax deduction letter.

Thank you.

Sounds good. The Dichro67 is color, and the Durst still in box might be. Also, Dan has spoken for the DII.

Any other takers?

Jeff,

What was your connection with Andrew Moore?

Jeff,

What was your connection with Andrew Moore?

John

Our good friends, Dan & Silke Seybold, were key in the Detroit project - they worked as his assistants while in Detroit, showing him into buildings and assisting in setting up shots.

We've had dinner with Andrew, he juried a gallery show for the photo group I run - I would call us acquaintances.

Thanks. Penny asked.

John

OK, just so you're not expecting me on Friday - I'm going to drive over on Sat, have dinner and hang out with you all Sat night (assuming Nate is behaving), and then go to breakfast and the museum. Then I have to drive back here.

I'm trying not to lust after anything larger than 4x5 right now... but damn!

I didn't know you were reading along. Come on down and visit Tom. We can rev up your 8x10 enlarger lust in a heart beat. Dale has the biggest one (Ic-Racer), apparently Jeff & Eva have one and I do. Speak up anyone if I have missed you. We on the other hand lust after your location. A visit or two to Pelee Point has made it for Dolly and me. Everyone wants something.

Thanks Bethe,

Love to have you here. You contribute a lot and are most enjoyable. Besides, I feel much safer with this version.

I am going to post a tentative schedule later this weekend, either for discussion and modifications if needed, or for direction to those catching up to us mid event. Hope that will help all.

John

Tentative Schedule for NE OH APUG Gathering Sept. 17-19, 2010

Please think of this as a suggested plan. It is open to revision through your input or how events evolve. Please offer ideas and modifications and then see what people think. It is all about having an event that we enjoy and addresses our photographic interests.

Friday: The welcome mat goes out at 5:00 PM. Campers set up in the field west of the pond. Gather on the patio by the pond for introductions and conversation. Bring your own drinks. We should have enough chairs. The Porta Potty will be in place. Contributions toward the Porta Potty’s $111.00 cost appreciated.

Bring pictures, cameras, gear or anything else you want to talk about. The darkroom is available for tours, emergencies or film loading and unloading. If you want to sell, swap or give away something tell us about it and a price before hand so we can bring money or ask questions.

Dinner at Fisher’s Restaurant, Main St. (Rt. 303) in Peninsula between the two stop lights in town next to the Cuyahoga River.

Saturday: Gather in the driveway 7:50 AM so we can leave by 8:00 AM for the Cleveland Flats. For locals wishing to meet us there go to Dead Link Removed, enlarge their map and use their directions. I will have copies for people starting at our house. We will go to Shooters and work south along the west bank of the Cuyahoga finding pictures of opportunity.

Work and stay in the flats as long as you like. I suggest picking a buddy or two who work at your speed and be aware of people around you. There are restaurants open in the area on either side of the river for lunch. Be careful of your gear. This is known as a high risk neighborhood.

Meet at our house around 5:00 PM to look at prints. Bring what you have to show. We will have burgers and pizza at Musketeers Bar & Grille, 3027 Brecksville Rd, Richfield, OH. about two miles NE from the house. Come back after dinner for more talk and print review or go out for an evening shoot.

Sunday: Sunrise shooting for those who want. Please organize yourselves. 10:00 AM, brunch at Richfield Family Restaurant, 4793 Brecksville Road, Richfield, OH 44286. This is on the east side of the road, south of the OH Turnpike entrance, across the street from Days Inn and Hampton Inn.

After brunch we will go south on Rt. 77 to the Akron Art Museum for the two shows.

Afternoon shooting in the park. Don’t forget stuff you may have left at the house.

Thank you for coming. I hope you will have had as much fun at this event as we have had in the past. It works because everyone contributes to making it happen.

John & Dolly Powers

It would help to know who is coming,
when they expect to arrive
and where they will be staying.

Input from each person helps build the buzz and enthusiasm for the event.
It won’t happen unless you make it happen.
