Mike,

Sandy is very welcome. Having watched your behavior before, we most welcome a chaperone. However she was your emergency contact. Please email or PM a contact that will tell me what to do when you both misbehave.

John

"Chaparone!!!" *Giggity* I'll have to show this to Sandy. She'll get quite a kick out of that.

Mike

LEE L : I bought a Horseman 4x5 back to get the ground glass assembly. The rest of the contraption that I got does not fit on my camera. That would be the frame that the GG back assembly fits on. Perhaps the frame is from a 4x5 monorail Horseman. Perhaps you would want it in exchange for a drink or ice-cream sunday? I'll bring it along.
Thanks. I'll take you up on the offer if it's LE parts. Did you just remove the frame and glass that leaves a Graflok back exposed, press two levers then slide sideways and lift off?

Lee

Yes that is it.

Here is the item I bought. I took the ground glass portion off to put on a new Bellows Extension back for my FA that came without the ground glass. I was left with two other frame pieces that are not compatible with the FA and that I suspect are LE parts. I'm guessing from the L-series manual they are #23705 "4x5 Main Frame" and #23707 "4x5 Connecting Frame" I'll bring them for you.

My new extension back...say "hello" to long lenses!

Cool set up. Thanks for thinking of me.

Last part I bought was headed the other direction, a short rail for using the LE in the field. Don't need the 400mm unless I'm doing nearly 1:1 with the 210. Love the simple modularity of the Horseman stuff.

Facebook sent an important notice, that our own Jeff Bannow will be having a birthday next Friday, May 4th. Strangely we found a birthday card covered with different favored ice cream cones. Don’t anybody tell Jeff. See you in two weeks.

John

Jeff Scott will be joining us. He runs Labwork in Cleveland, a printer of B&W film images. http://labwork-bw.com/. Two of his customers Jeff Smith and Bill Mitchell speak very highly of him. Welcome Jeff.

Did someone say birthday ice cream!?!?

I'm not sure, but someone said Jeff about 8 times in reference to at least three people, maybe more.

Lee and I are confused. Will there be a meal where Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Lee, and Lee are eating at the same table? The good thing is that no one can tell if any of us are talking to ourselves.

Then there's the question of how many fake identities people have online... how accurate the personal info they post is... the percentage of fake profiles on facebook... etc. I'm thinking this Bannow person may really be an 8 year old Chinese girl who shoots only digital photos of her cat with her cell phone and then runs them through a Warhol app.

I would remind you that you objected to using last names at an earlier date. One of the Jeffs has not mentioned if he is a registered Apugger. There are at least three people who say they are coming, maybe four, who are not Apuggers. But yes, if all attend as planned, it is quite possible that Jeff, Jeff, Jeff, Lee, and Lee will eat at the same table. Will they each select a different meal or will they order in a 3:2 ratio? Who will pay for whom?

John

I also mentioned the meeting to a couple of friends who I think would be good folks to join in. One's putting together an analog darkroom and getting set for medium format (4x5 to jp80874) when he retires in a couple of years. Another is a radiology tech who has been an amateur photographer since at least the early 70's and perhaps a few years longer. Neither has specifics, but if they indicate interest in coming, I'll let you know in advance.

Neither is named Jeff or Lee.

Lee

Lee,

Let them know they are welcome.

All this JLJLJ stuff has me confused, and that is a normal thing. So if JLJLJ sits at the same table we can put some burger grease on the bill and give it to one of the twin blonds. I'm certain they will take care of the bill, pronto.

Looking forward to the gathering. BTW, I'll be leaving after work on Friday to drive in, where will we meet up on Friday for breaking bread.

That other Lee

Lee, more confusion, the twin blonds are now triplets.

Glad you are coming. Dinner Friday may be pizza at our house or go out somewhere close. Let us see how many people will be here Friday, who wants to eat with us, and who will be coming at what time?

John

I hope I can but as of right now we're working 60+ hours till October. Have to make hay while the sun is shinning. Haven't been able to touch any of my cameras for the last 2 months

It looks like Sandy and I won't be able to make it this time; just too much going on that week. Daughter B graduates from college on Tuesday May 8; we thought we could fit her party in the previous Sunday but that's not going to work. Son's birthday is on Mother's Day this year and I'll be busy the following weekend, so unfortunately, this weekend is just too over - booked. Have fun!

Doug and I exchanged phone messages earlier today. He has attended two earlier events. Sorry you won't be with us this event. I am happy to hear about a young family making money in this economy. We will see you again sometime. Catch us when you can.

Mike,

Sorry you and Sandy won’t be here this event. You always add a lot of fun to the party. I will see you at Photostock. We expect to have another event here late in July or early August. No date set yet. Hope you can make that.

John

I just received a PM introduction and request from “Mykola Shynkaryk from Columbus, OH. I would like to join NE OH Gathering on May 12. I am new to LF and to Ohio too.”

Mykola welcome to our party. Thank you for sending all the information requested. I returned directions on how to get here from Columbus. Please tell the group about yourself, what brought you to Ohio and your photographic interests. At our event you will meet film shooters from several states, shooting many formats from 16mm to 7x17 and many steps in between.

If anyone else is reading this, wondering if they will be welcome, please send me a PM and introduce yourself. You will be welcome.

John

Hi Jeff and Eva if she follows this. I will be rooming with Dan Hendersen at the Birchwood. It will be fun to be up there again after missing a few years.

I had the pleasure of seeing "Detroit Disassembled" with you and later listening to Andrew Moore's lecture at the Akron Art Museum. It was a standing room only lecture and very good. Though he had a line 100 feet long at the book signing, he was kind enough to chat with each person. It will be a pleasure to meet him again in a less formal environment.

Yeah, he's a nice guy and a lot of fun to hang out with. Should be a blast this year!
