Doug Clow, a 5x7 shooter from the LF Forum and Canton, OH says he will join us Saturday morning at breakfast after shooting earlier in the area.

We were surprised to see a coyote walking rapidly by the pond the other morning.
Maybe I should bring over some of that ACME brand stuff I've been trying to sell off.
I have some anvils, rockets, dynamite, roller skates, and other equipment new in the box.

It is wet.
We have had a LOT of rain in the last two weeks. Our 1/3 acre pond appeared to be down a foot at the start. It has filled back up.

If you are camping, please remember to bring a ground cloth for under your sleeping bag. This is your mother speaking.

If you are interested in photographing or visiting the three local water falls (links in first post of thread) they should be as dramatic as they are going to get. It also means they will be as dangerous as they are going to get. Remember that the day after our last event someone slipped at Brandywine Falls and fell 60 feet to his death.

The mosquito population has soared. The Board of Health says this is not the breed that carries West Nile, but they are irritating. Dolly & I carry the OFF Towelettes and apply as needed.

Weather.com is predicting a 40% chance of scattered thunder showers Saturday and Sunday.

If you remember “Hill Street Blues,” “Be careful out there.”

Just so I don’t have to explain this fourteen times,
you will notice that I am limping badly, can not walk very far and the dogs are restless. Three weeks ago the Podiatrist said I have Plantar fasciitis a painful inflammatory process of the plantar fascia (bottom of the foot especially the heel). I am in the third of six weeks of therapy. The Girls have not had their usual ten mile a week walks and may run off at any point. I am trying to be good about it, keep a smile on, but it hurts and anything you can do to help out while you are here will be appreciated.

I'll be able to take the non-locals to some spots of interest for shooting, we can figure it out on the fly. That plantar fasciitis can take a while to settle down.

We had some very dramatic flooding a week ago. The river ford at the park was trashed by entire trees (with roots) floating down the river and getting held up at the ford. I chanced upon the scene the day after with my 8x10 camera, prints to follow...

Also, "Ohio's Largest One-Day Horse Show" will be at the Metropark on Sunday. If you know or like Garry Winogrand's "Stock Photographs" you may want to check it out with a rangefinder, flash and wide angle lens

Thanks Both.

Dale, where is this ford? "The river ford at the park was trashed by entire trees (with roots) floating down the river and getting held up at the ford."

Also, "Ohio's Largest One-Day Horse Show" will be at the Metropark on Sunday.
From 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Chippewa Ford Field in Cleveland Metroparks Brecksville Reservation
http://blog.cleveland.com/suncourier/2009/08/brecksville_kiwanis_club_hosti.html

Have a feeling it will be a bit different from the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show and Rodeo, unless dressage, hunting, and jumping are judged by the riders remaining mounted for 8 seconds or longer, or the time it takes to run inside loops around three barrels, or people start jumping off their horses and tying up calves and wrestling steers to the ground. I used Winogrand's rodeo photos to demonstrate to my father that good timing was more important than a motor drive for getting some shots.

Heal quickly John.

John, From Route 21, when you enter Brecksville reservation the road continues toward the junction of Chippewa Creek and the Cuyahoga. About a mile from the termination of the road, it crosses Chippewa Creek. They have gates at both ends, so when the Creek is flowing over the road, the ford is closed. Its closed now for repairs.

The river ford is near #4 on the park map here: http://hikingohioparks.com/images/images2/brecksville-reservation-trail-map.pdf

Thanks Dale. I haven't been there in years and had forgotten there was a ford.

Tentative Schedule

As of 10 AM Friday the forecast on Weather.com is for:
30% chance of rain Friday
60% chance of rain Saturday
20% chance of rain Sunday

This leads me to the tentative plan that follows. As part of herding cats, I am open to all suggestions or changes. If the group wants to go one direction, and you want to go another, that also is fine. Join us again when you like.

Friday: meet here 5-6 PM
Dinner 6 or 6:30 PM either Three Musketeers or Mariachi Coco. This is a Mexican restaurant in the valley different from the one we have tried at earlier events.
Print showing at he house after dinner.

Saturday: If it is not raining, go shoot.
9 AM Breakfast Richfield Family Restaurant
Peter’s development by inspection demo at our house
Akron Art Museum It is open from 11 AM – 5 PM
The Flora exhibit described earlier.
http://www.akronartmuseum.org/exhibitions/details.php?unid=2114

Dinner if we are still in Akron, New Era Restaurant (Eastern European specializes in
Chicken Paprikash)
If back at house the restaurant we didn’t go to Friday
Print showing at the house.

Sunday: explore in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
We can have coffee at 9 AM at our house or go back to breakfast at the Richfield Family Restaurant.

If anyone wants to catch up to us at a certain point, but needs directions, let me know.Tell me if you have a GPS.

FLASH !!! Change of Plans.

I need to take Dolly to the Cleveland Clinic at 2:45 PM today.

I am not sure when we will get back. We will explain later.
Please start without us. Set up your tents at the usual spot.

Mat this means go down the driveway past our house. Just before the second house there is a mowed drive through the field to the right. Set up any place you like in the open area.

Leave a note on my door where you have gone for dinner Friday.

Saturday & Sunday schedule should be the same.

Sorry. It is Important.

The irony of it.
The big rush was delayed until next week because Akron General Hospital switched to digital. They could have given her film to take to Cleveland Clinic if they still used it, but because they have switched to Digital (sort of) they can’t burn a CD until the first of next week.

Akron General couldn't see her unlil the 18th for further tests.
Cleveland Clinic could see her this afternoon if she had the CD
or next Tuesday IF she can get the CD from AG Monday.

Is this film v. digital or is it they just can't get their act together?

It does explain why I have all my medical appointments in Cleveland.

Hi John -

I hope Dolly gets the care she needs.

My dad is in town, so I will not make it to dinner tonight. I probably will not make it to breakfast Saturday either, but I'll try to head to your place before the demos are over. If plans change, and someone doesn't mind calling or texting me, that would be great: four four zero - two nine two - seven zero nine four

thanks, Jeff

John, I'm glad to help out if there is anything I can do.

I'm off work early (for me) and could meet up with the group for dinner. If anyone sees this could you PM me with the location and time. Or leave a note on the door.

Thanks, see you all tonight or tomorrow.

Dale,

Sorry. I didn't read this until Sat. morning. Thank you for your offer. So far the help we need has been in Akron and we haven't gotten it. She is scheduled at the Clinic for Tuesday AM if we get images Monday to take there Tuesday.
