The reason there are so few motel rooms is that this is the weekend of the Bridgestone Invitational golf championship. If you are going to stay in a motel, better make what reservation you can find now.

WOW. Glad you are alright Alex.

Yeah, thank the park rangers who went out of their way to warn everyone.

I was just looking myself for possible reasons, happened across this gem that might be worth checking out for street photography:

That does look like fun. As you can see, it is right on the edge of the Flats. You could start in one area and switch over later without much of a drive. Parking may be in short supply though.

Tentative schedule. My only attempt at herding cats.

Friday dinner, pick up your choice of pizza & drinks and bring to our house. One source we like is Teressa’s Pizza 4174 Wheatly Rd. Richfield, OH - 330-659-9555 They need roughly 20 minutes on Friday. Call and order ahead.

Saturday 5 PM gather early for dinner Musketeers Bar & Grille, 3027 Brecksville Rd, Richfield, OH. Tel: 330-659-4111. After dinner we will look at the prints you brought at our house.

Breakfast 9 AM Sunday, Memories, just south of the OH Turnpike. on west side of road, 4880 Brecksville Rd., Richfield, OH 44286. Phone number (330) 659-2454

Possible breakfast and lunch places in Richfield:
Memories and Richfield Gourmet Café corner of Brecksville Rd. and Wheatly. 4174 Wheatly Rd. Richfield, OH 44286
The Flats has many restaurants. Alex's link sounds great for Sunday

The usual questions:
Who is coming? What day(s) will you be here? Who is camping?
What photo subject matter would you like? Possibly some of us can help you find it. Possibly the group will want to join you.

Wishing everybody great exposures this weekend. Even with me heading to Florida again for family matters I will be with you in spirit this weekend.

Dolly and John, you two are the best. Thank you for your continous support of the arts and you two are the best cat hearders I have ever met.

Supposed to have roofers on Friday (they begged off Thurs morning).

Probably commuting Sat and Sun (will put the roofers off if they delay again). What's her name will come along Sun morning for breakfast to meet people and hopefully see Dolly and John, so we'll plan on Memories 9 AM.

Lee

(yes, that Lee, not the other Lee.)

Mark: Sorry to miss you. Have a great time in CO.

Lee G: Sorry to miss you and Sue. Sorry you have to keep making these trips south.

Safe travels to both families.

Lee L: We have vast experience with roofers not showing up when promised in good weather, here and in Strongsville. Hope to see you Saturday and you and Barbara Sunday. That will be a nice first for the group.

Hi John - sorry for the late reply. I'll be there tonight, but my pizza may look like a Subway sandwich .

Sorry guys, but I've had an unexpected kink in my schedule, and, regrettably (for me at least) I won't be able to join the group as I had originally planned. So sorry.

sorry i missed you guys, i made 12 prints this weekend. funny thing though, i now have ventilation and my lungs feel worse than they did without. go figure!
I coulda used some expertise too. trying to print some pyro negs on grade 2 paper and don't know how to get more contrast. in the future... going to use rodinal! so i ended up switching to fomatone 132 instead

First Handful...rest are on tap to be developed this week.

The 4x5 work on Sunday.

The tug boats under less than ideal conditions but I really like how they turned out all the same. This shot is part of my ongoing 52-sheet project

I thought I had only got the one bridge...but turns out got two! Again a favourite of mine from the trip

I count three bridges in this, and I'm really digging the grunge look here, the joys of slightly fogged and light-leaked expired old stock Tri-X

The coast guard station, again grungy, same film stock as the previous one. Both developed in 1+2 Xtol, a roll film formula, I don't personally see anything really special.

We missed you too Dorothy. Glad the weekend was productive.

One reason you might not feel good in your new darkroom is that the ventilation is not supposed to be passive or counting on the waste pipe to suck out the fumes. Kodak put out a book many years ago on how to build a darkroom. In it there was a section on ventilation. Kodak said that you should use fans to suck the air out. I use inline fans in the rafters that exit outside. These fans should at least change the air, the total cubic feet of the room, six times each hour. That is for normal Kodak chemicals, not the heavy duty stuff you have been using.

You can't create a vacuum, so air must come into the room to replace what is sucked out. You need to filter out dust. I use a furnace filter and an intake fan. You need to block light with a baffle that won't stop the air flow.

One common mistake is to put the exhaust fan in the ceiling over the sink so that the fumes come up from the trays, pass your nose and out the ceiling. The exhaust should be on the opposite side of the sink from you.

Hope this helps. I look forward to seeing your work again soon.

Working down there every day I no longer consider it picturesque, but I really like your composition. You got a good angle on the Terminal Tower - you made it look taller

Great picture Alex. Thank you, but I don’t remember downtown Cleveland accused of being a nice. Dirty, dangerous, out of date, yes, but “nice”, I don’t remember that. I can remember going to a convention downtown in the early 1970s and being told not to go out on the street at night in groups of less than four.
