Hey folks... I had to shift an exhibit out of the Jan 2008 time-slot. I now have to fill that slot. So how about an exhibit of work from NE-APUG photogers? I am going to extend the invitation to eastern regions of New York state as long as you can easily get the work to Springfield. **The VPC doesn't have the staff to receive work via UPS or FedEx**

The show dates are Jan 8 - Feb 8 with a reception TBD. I would like to have the photos here sometime between the holidays.

I have one suggestion and a request:
How about showing photos that were taken on a NE-APUG outing - there have been plenty of those to choose from.
And I would like to ask for a small, tax-deductible donation to the VPC to help defray the cost of the show.

Please PM me if you want to participate. That way I can determine how many photos per person for the show. We can handle about 100 photos without crowding.

Is any of you NE-APUG'ers interested???????? :D

Count me in. I'm up for a trip to the beautiful CT river valley - even in January, and a slot at the VPC would be an honor.

We have about 12 people participating so far. I know there are more New England and eastern NY (especially from the Poughkeepsie to Albany stretch) photogers out there.
Let me know if you want to join in. This could be a really good show and a fun reception!

I'd really like to participate too. Besides, it'd be an occasion to invite my son and daughter-in-law to come to Springfield where her parents live. We could all see the show. Ah....pipe dreams....

I keep seeing questions from you about liquid emulsion... hope we see some work from these efforts, Krystyna :D

Looking forward to catching up with everyone... I've missed too many get togethers lately!

Hey Suzanne!
Yeah, I'm taking a class in "experimental photography" this semester, so far I've "dabbled" in pinhole, cyanotypes, polaroids, and lately Liquid Light...

My brain is really getting stretched, sometimes it hurts, LOL!!!

And I don't know if you'll see any of my "experiments" soon, I would hate to embarass myself and insult those who know how to make "fine art" with these processes...

Blessings to You and Yours,
K

Hi Gene,
Long time no see, put me on the list. Hope to have a print ready from a trip I took to a Kim Weston workshop in September. This one negative that I have been fighting with over the last few months has the composition but the negative is slightly underexpsoed and printing it is turning out to be a pain in the you know! After working with graded Ilford and Oriental paper with not very acceptable results it looks like Oreintal VC fiber paper seems to be heading in the right direction. See you soon!

Ted - I would suggest each person bring four prints and I'll work from there.

OK, here goes: You can get the work here anytime before Dec 30th (I will be abducted for work on Sat Dec 29 for inventory - but I will try to get someone at the gallery on that day from about 10:00 - 2:00... more on this later). Saturdays before this are good for me, just let me know when you are coming. PM me for directions, or MapQuest at the VPC address below.
For those of you who cannot make the drive, Dave at In A Flash (one of our Board members) will accept USPS, UPS or FedEx packages for this show. Here is his address:
In A Flash
Attn: Valley Photo Center
477 Breckwood Blvd
Springfield, MA 01109

As I said above, four photos (framed and ready to hang) each will fill the gallery nicely.
We have regular gallery hours Tuesday - Saturday from 11:00 - 2:00. I can make myself available on Saturdays and most Sundays (the Tower Sq mall is dead Sundays, but if need be I can get us up to the gallery) except for Dec 9th as I have a holiday party to attend.

As far as a date for the reception... I guess a weekend day would be better for this group. We normally have our receptions on Thursday evening for local shows, but have had good results on weekend events for artists from further away. Is a Sat or Sun better for you? How about Jan 12... 13 or 19... 20? Let me know on this, as I have to start publicity on this.

Here is the YPC's address:
Valley Photo Center
Tower Square
1500 Main St
Springfield, MA 01115

VPC phone #: 413-781-1553

If you come on a weekend, please park on the street as parking is free, except for the usual ticket traps.
Please let me know when you are coming to drop off... PM me and I can give you my home phone # if need be.
I am looking forward to this show and seeing all of you... and I hope, making some new friends.
