Yup, seems to be a common refrain -- slow to load, although sometimes it's OK at my end. Hard to say...as for the picture bleed, you're getting the whole deal.

Easiest way is to keep the cursor off screen and use the arrow keys to navigate. I had to learn that by trial and error...

You might want to put the "keep the cursor off screen and use the arrow keys to navigate" tip somewhere prominent.

In addition, it would be great if clicking on to the opening photo/screen would open up the menu (which itself isn't really easy to locate).

The photography? wonderful!

Colin: You photos are wonderful. I particularly liked the B/W China and color ones. Well the others are great too. They are all rich, deep and meaningful. I also noticed the slow load although mine wasn't that bad since I'm running about 3-4 MB. When I checked your photos, they are very large for the web. You might be able to reduce the size and never notice since monitors have a lot less pixels horizontally and vertically then you have on each of your photos. Anyway the wait between shots gives one time to enjoy and absorb them even more. Alan.

I agree.

Note how much down-scaling is required to fit on to my (admittedly old fashioned) 1280 x 1024 monitor. You would be better controlling that from your end.

You spoke, I listened...working with a friend to resize the images. Should be done in a day or two and I think you'll notice quite a speedier load after that.

Thanks, all!

Great images and site works very well. I am using a standard DSL connection in Australia and speed is OK here. Looks great on iPad also.

Very, very nice work Colin! Three of the images I particularly liked were:

the musician on the otherwise empty street,
the woman on the side of the pool,
the boy in the folding chair.

The latter picture reminded me a bit of Diane Arbus's work.

Here in the US I had no problems with loading which was very fast. I use Windows 7 and standard DSL.

Thanks all...I've sized down the photos a bit --- same quality but not so huge to load. It should load and proceed a lot more quickly now.

I liked the website very much, it is quite focused on the images, easy to navigate. There are no distractions (huge logos or navigational stuff) which I particularly like. I switched to full screen and browsed the images.

Willie Jan - I used a pre-existing template from Wordpress for the site. I can't change the thumbnail size - on the positive side, it works quite well for photography sites and I would recommend using them. Relatively easy to master and upgrade regularly, and they seem to have a lot of templates constructed specifically for photography.

As a point of information, the name of the template I used is called "ANAN"

An update, of sorts...

I just added a new set of works to the "Portfolios" section...my ongoing street photography images.
