I had some 35 mm Delta 3200 hanging in the shower to dry and lo and behold, I go in there a while later and find the last frame had been torn by a tooth/claw or whatever. Fortunately, she didn't get any of the important images (not that I didn't want the last one). So much for the dog eating the homework. Looks like I need to find a new place to dry my film.

I had that happen once. Only mine was undeveloped film.

I simply took the cat to the darkroom, poured developer down her throat, and agitated her for 15 seconds every minute for 8 minutes, them stop bath, then I fixed her.

When all was said and done she passed my film the next day, and she could never have kittens again.

The film turned out fine, although she was never that impressed when I placed a clothes peg on her tail and hung her up for an hour.

...of course you'll be thinking first and foremost about the health of your cat. I don't know if cats take well to digesting negs.

Perhaps she was annoyed the picture wasn't of her.

I guess they were developed in Hungrycat HD

Cats will do as cats want - I am resigned to it.

It's cruel to laugh -- but hard not to!

Better luck next time.

Cheers,

Don't worry about it. I just shook my head and chuckled. I realized I should have hung the other end of the film there - the leader end. Oh well. This is why I like 24 shot rolls, they don't hang down so far.

The rest of the film is fine, including the shots of the Ebony 20x24 I took at the View Camera Conference.

The film was developed in D76 stock and the cat seems to be just fine, btw. She didn't actually eat any film, but just chewed on it since she batted it and it moved. It was just the thought of the old phrase about the dog eating my homework that I said that the cat ate my film. Now, as long as she doesn't do it with my 8x10 film, I'm happy.

That's precisely why I wasn't too concerned with the cat's health - not because I don't care, but because I was 99% sure that is exactly what happened. They know food from not, and if its not food - be it film, yarn or human, they just try to amuse themselves with it until it bores them:smile:

The emulsion probably has more animal protein in it than any boxed dry food on the market!

What i want to know is how you do semi-stand developing in a cat; mine just jumps all over the place...

That's one very photogenic cat . . . sorry, couldn't resist.

Ciao!

Gordon

P.S. - Is the cat's name Leica, or Georz, or something like that? Just curious.

Not much makes me laugh out loud at a computer workstation... This one did the trick. Thank you.

Now your cat is a very harsh critique and editor.

Do what I do, kick the cats out ( I have 3 of them ) during the whole time of development and drying, move the litter out into the hallway if you have to. Then you can let them back in when its finished drying, never allow open access to your drying negs.

One of my cats is black white and grey. Must have been developed in compensating developer. With some shade of brown I suspect pyro or pyrocat... And he loves to eat cameras. :D

Our dogs chewed up three rolls of Fuji Acros last month. Luckily I hadn't used them yet.

They also chewed up my daughters homework so she could legitamately use the phrase "the dog ate my homework"!!

Steve.

Can't believe no one has said it...... Aren't you glad he wasn't a Pyro Cat? :surprised:

Your film could have gone up in flames...

When I was a kid my dog liked to chew on 35mm rolls of FotoMat film. It had a strong smell he loved. I could never leave a roll sitting out.

That was funny to read

Diane, I am about to make film drying cabinet, total cost of material about 20 USD. If you want, when I finish it, and see that it work OK, if you want, I can send you, or put on this forum, manual how I did it.
