Very quick hobo scan (phone and diffuse light) of a roll of Foma confectioned Aviphot 80 I shot on a Nettar the other day, to see if it still was bad with mottling.

IR Japanese cherry tree flowers.

Pretty Wabi-Sabi I’d say.

Can’t really be bothered to do a proper scan, but still kind of pleasing.

I didn't know bad flower arranging was a thing.
Bad ikebana is still ikebana.

There is a traditional triangle going: Earth, heaven and human.
And then there is the unconventional “death”.
Same as the PlayStation symbols BTW, △, O, , and X

Wow, some great images and interesting discussions so far! This is a welcome relief to me at the moment, as I've spent the last two days in the darkroom in a contact sheet printing marathon - I've done at least 60 so far and I'm not even halfway through (and don't anyone suggest scanning negs - that's an even worse kind of hell for me). Well, I guess it's my fault for leaving 2 years worth of negs until now. The good thing is I've got lots of inspiration for printing and future exchanges, the bad thing is that I've realized I've got a (meter?) issue with my FM3a, and I've finally come to the realization that I just don't like Rollei films, so I should really stop shooting with them.

Long story short, I definitely feel imperfect and incomplete, but I'm happy with how this theme is going so far.

Buddha in a conversation with a Zen Monk, in what Wabi Sabi is. :wondering:

One of my first successful Pinhole shots out of a 3x4 Anniversary Speed with a focal-plane shutter.
F=281 ~ Using .55mm laser drilled pinhole with a Focal Length of 6.192"
Efke 100 ~ Exposure for 44 sec and developed in D76 1:1.
Scanned, with a little cropping to make an 8x10, and lightly sharpened.

A nice start with pinhole with much wabi sabi content, keep it going! I'm looking forward to the next one.

I ran across this two nights ago. My return to photography at the beginning of the digital era -- this was Christmas Day 2004. The subject matter reminded me of Wabi Sabi -- acceptance of transience and imperfection. I remember I was trying to capture footprints being washed away at the high tide line, something I never really did well, which I guess is wabi sabi, too. Things are never perfect.

Loving this theme and its perception .. here's another, with imperfect framing on this image.
Its to close, ... yet, .. acceptable in its unbalance.

To go with my "old" postings, a new one. Shot this morning on Tmax 400. This apple blossom will probably be on the ground by tomorrow.

Another beauty from my “The Streets Of San Francisco” series. Nikon F100, Nikkor AF 85mm f1.4D, Tri-X 400. This is from last weekend.

@Andrew O'Neill No...just...no. The question is though, is it real wasabi, or the fake stuff that most people get? In my debate class we had a very spirited debate over whether or not wasabi should be mixed in the soy sauce when eating sushi, and the against argument was that you shouldn't do it as you wouldn't be able to taste the delicate flavours of the wasabi, but my counterargument was that most of the wasabi we consume daily is the fake stuff, so it doesn't really matter if it's mixed in the soy sauce or not.

For everyone else - I'm very happy and inspired by the submissions so far, please keep them coming!

Fake. Me knowing that it is fake saddens me. I yearn for the real stuff. To turn my sorrow into something positive, I will make sushi for me and my wife. Fake or not, I never mix in it in soyu. :D

Wabi Sabi ~

and the greatest excitement,
and most profound act, ...

Very Old... Full image, just scanned, not even any sharpening. :surprised:
