Very nice Paul. How was the front lit to even up the light?

A softbox (compact fluorescents) was used as a generous fill light: wet plate is reknowned for needing a lot of artificial light to fill daylit scenes. It’s about the lack of UV that fluorescents generate.

That would be tricky enough with film, you did very well to get even lighting. Do you have any trick with UV metering? or is it a bit of trial and error?

"Metering"?? What is "metering"?!

Seriously, I do not meter when shooting Collodion. If I am not familiar enough with the lighting to know what to expect, then I will shoot a test plate the same way I make a test strip in the darkroom: start with 10 seconds, push the dark slide in an inch or so, add ten more seconds, push the dark slide in another inch, count off twenty more seconds, etc. Then I evaluate the resulting plate and make an exposure accordingly.

This is the one we would like to enter, but not sure if that is legitimate, as its not the full negative.

Here is the full negative. Lomo 800 120 film. Shot @ f32 @100 in a converted 1914 Kodak Brownie from Post Card Film to 120.

We startet at 6 Januari with this assignment. Februari is a short Month so I'm waiting to Monday 4 MARCH to choose my favorite image.

Time to choose my Favorite, I must say all images are beautiful, here we go!!!
2e place (and maybe 1e !!!!) is AWTY with Beautiful Aye!
1e place is Paul (Paulbarden) with his superb wet plate collodion on glass Tulips 5, congratulations both! BUT……. Pauls is a member and NOT a subscriber.
According the Monthly Shooting Assignment ("MSA") Guidelines section 5 there is a very simpel solution:
(5) If the "winner" is a non-subscriber they won't be able to review entries that are uploaded only to the MSA gallery, so they really cannot be asked to judge all the entries there. For that reason, the photographer choosing the theme and judging subsequent entries needs to be an APUG subscriber. To accomplish that, the following will happen if the new "winner" is not a subscriber:
a) the current judge may, but shall not be required to give the "winner" the opportunity to promptly (within 2 days) subscribe, in which case the "winner" will be the one who chooses the theme and judges the coming entries, in order to choose the next "winner";
So Paul if you are the 6th March a subscriber would be perfect, you may start the next assignment after subscribing.
If not (WE HOPE YOU ARE THE 6th!!!!) then may AWTY starts a new assignment on the 7th March. Thanks all!
