Frustrations of a Photographer:
While deciding what to shoot for this assignment, I thought about the geese that fly overhead in the fall with their loud honking and harsh cries. What a wonderful image of them silhouetted against the sky, wings outstretched that would make! But they normally migrate from September to November and here it is January.

Imagine then my surprise and frustration as I shoveled snow from my driveway and heard the familiar cries. I looked up to see a gaggle of about 50 geese flying overhead. My Nikon 70 was, of course, inside the house, sitting on a shelf. No time to retrieve it before they flew out of sight. Sigh…

I can imagine Barbara: You took the picture, but without the camera (look on the bright side, sometimes is better that way)

Best!

I've had that happen too... but you just gave me a most wonderful idea for this MSA and I've been thinking of making a trip to the wildlife refuge anyway...
Ah, good that my frustration was your inspiration! lol

Barb, you have done everything to the letter - you listened to the geese; theme of the MSA is ''Listen to ...'' , not ''Shoot at ...'' :whistling:

Shooting is fine too - analogue that is, not ballistically ....

Went out with a couple of different lenses and my Nikkormat this morning to take frosty pictures. The snow and ice were very crunchy. I'll have to wait and see if any of my shots actually convey that wintery sound.

To photograph the sound of crunchy snow - now that's an interesting idea!

Totally cool idea Sly! (No pun intended.) I know exactly what you mean. Wrote a poem about it once...
WINTER WALK
We smash ice
in the woods
at the end of the block.

Wild things
stomping our feet
on the frozen surface
until it cracks.

Your laughter echoes
around dead tree branches
and muddy ground.

I tug my gloves
onto your little boy hands,
plunge mine deep
into the pockets of my coat.

Red cheeked and sparkle eyed
you hold my hope
for spring.

Love your poem, Barbara Ann. The weather's warming a bit, so I'll be able to use the darkroom. I'll post here, if I'm happy with my results.

Listen to ... the wrinkle of the film in the magazine as I try to squeeze a 13th shot out of a 120 roll film:
(even the sheep turned their head in dismay)

Hi Bertus,
You do know you can't choose your own images as a winner?
