Used to use them all the time

Sad end to what was once a great supplier.

I really like their Exeter precut boards and their linen tape. I wonder what happened to them to cause a decline in service?

It really doesn't matter if they answer the phone if they don't send what you pay for.

The business model:

  1. Answer the phone only if a new order
  2. Take the order
  3. Get the credit card number
  4. Run the credit card
  5. Tear up #2 :whistling:

They have all these issues and yet they're still sending out promotional emails. Talk about shady. I hope they have someone who at least periodically reads these forums so they can see how their horrible business practices are railroading them from the photo community.

Just a quick update. I received my Lodima matte boards (sizes 11x14 and 14x17) and I am very pleased. The boards arrived very quickly and were packed exceptionally well. Doesn't look like there will be any need to worry about poor packing and bent corners from this company which is a relief! The board looks of exceptional quality and texture. I haven't mounting a print in it yet but I will be hopefully next week. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It's not clear what company you are referring to. I assume you mean Freestyle and not Light Impressions?

Also, Light Impressions just charged me $278.60 which showed up on my credit card statement as Ncd Brands 562-447-1700 Ca. The amount isn't even the proper amount for the order I cancelled. Now I have to call my credit card company...again.

my bad... I just assumed that Lodima was the brand and an earlier post of yours said that you ordered from Freestyle. Certainly I didn't think it was Light Impressions that you were talking about, unless you're bipolar!

As for your credit card, I just can't believe it. Where are they located? Maybe a brute squad is in order...

Haha no worries (although as I age I think Im becoming more bipolar!). I ordered dry mount adhesive paper from Freestyle and it came within a few days with no problems as is usual for Freestyle.

I just got off the phone with my credit card company and they're disputing the charge. I should be credited within 2 days for the amount of the charge. They also cancelled my credit card to prevent future charges so now I'm without a card until Friday which is a pain in the a**.

It just blows me away that they charged me and on top it it the amount was wrong. Also, the credit card company looked up this Ncd Brands 562-447-1700 Ca. that it showed up on my statement as and the company is listed as a leather goods and luggage provider.

Big raging middle finger to Light Impressions!!!

Chip - Wecome to APUG. For custom frames and other framing products, check out http://www.framedestination.com/ - they are a sponsor of APUG, as is Michael Smith's Lodima in the above post. I use Frame Destination for all my frames now, they are prompt, priced fairly, and great to work with. They also have good framing and matting tips on the site.

+1 Placed a large order with them last summer (30 20"x20" frames, with glass and pre-cut mats). FAST shipment and the order was packed by people who obviously cared about what they were doing. Looking forward to doing business with them again!

DO NOT ORDER FROM LIGHT IMPRESSIONS

I placed my order in October 2010. Light Impressions charged my credit account in October 2010. The Company repeated assured me that my order was in process, although backordered. The Company said they would deliver in 6 weeks. 6 weeks passed and nothing happened. Five months have passed and they still did not deliver. When I told them to cancel the order and return my money, they said that would take 14 weeks.

DO NOT TRUST LIGHT IMPRESSIONS. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. IF YOU ORDER FROM THEM YOU RISK LOSING YOUR MONEY.

Over the many years I bought supplies from Light Impressions I never had problems. After seeing the numerous complaints in APUG postings I became leery and have since made some purchases from PrintFile. I was very pleased with both the products and service. The delivery was very prompt as well.

I had suggested that they consider advertising on the APUG website and see that they are now doing that. If you decide to give them a try mention that you saw their link on the APUG site.

Thanks for mentioning us on APUG. Yes we are a new advertiser and think APUG is a great fit for us. Sorry to hear of all the problems everyone is having with the other supplier. As a welcome to new APUG customers use the discount code APUG11 at checkout for a 10% discount at www.PrintFile.com. Discount is good from April 1-31.

WHAT? Print File is located in Orlando, Florida?? That's only 10 miles from here! (kind of feel silly buying it from a supplier in NY...) Is there a retail store?

backorder

I've ordered from Light Impressions once before, and my experience was fine. This time my order was past due so I called their 800 number to see what had happened. I was told my merchandise was on backorder and would not arrive for another 6 weeks or longer - they had no way to know when their supplier would ship it. The problem is I was charged immediately, and never notified of the backorder status. I called my credit card company and disputed the charge, and they are going to give me credit. It's hard to understand why customers would not at least be notified if their order could not be filled. Now I see this is a recurring problem; really too bad.

I believe that they are required by Federal Law to inform the buyer immediately if the merchandise is on back order and refund the money if the delay is more than 14(?) days.

This has been a common occurrence and common response from this company.
I too was recently burned by Light Impressions. I filed a complaint with the BBB in Los Angeles as well as the California Attorney General's office on 3/12/11.

The company has failed to respond to the BBB's inquiries and they have since closed their file. However, I'm hoping that the Calif. AG will do something. But the only way for that to happen I believe is for those individuals that have been wronged is to step-up and file complaints with the BBB and the attorney general.

Light Impressions still sends me email regarding sales promotions, etc. but I'll never do business with them again. I'm still waiting for them to refund my $136

Yeah I ordered mat board back in the first week of December 2010 then found out it was back ordered and called to have it canceled and they told me it would take up to two weeks to get the refund back. I called a month later, two three and now it have been five months and i have still not gotten my refund back. but i still get emails from them asking me to buy stuff.

After multiple times of people never picking up the phone i called today and finallly spoke to someone and told them and they said they are supposed to be sending out checks the end of this month and that she would email her supervisor to let him know i called. This is the same thing they said 2 months ago.

So until i get my money i will call evertime i get an email from them and maybe they'll get the message!

Sounds like they're just stalling. If they haven't refunded your money by now, chances they're not going to.

I received a response from the California AG initially but don't know if they've taken any action. I sent them a follow-up last week letting them know that the BBB in Los Angeles had tried to contact the company with negative results.

At the very least, I'd file a complaint with the AG if I were you. Sometimes, nothing is done because not enough people come forward but enough people send in complaints to the California AG, I would think that they would have to so something especially since Light Impressions is a California business.

This is very important. There are a total of 11 pages and growing in this thread alone regarding the fraudulent activities of Light Impressions. Many other threads with equally as many complaints or more can be found on several other online forums with a simple Google search. If you've had a similar experience with this company it is important that you take a short 10 minutes and file a complaint with the California Attorney General. The link is above and here. Obviously there is no shortage of people being taken advantage of by Light Impressions but posting our accounts here just serves to make a record of these events. In order for anything to actually be done about this, these complaints need to be made with the appropriate agencies i.e. the LA BBB and the California Attorney General's office. It really only takes 10 minutes to send a complaint and if the Attorney General's office receives anywhere near the number of complaints as are present on these forums, they will be obliged to take action against the company.
