Good advice. I don't know if Minolta were consistent in always using the same colour of cable in a particular model but I've been warned that the cable colours used on the Asahi Pentax ME Super can change (although my one seems to follow the colours used in the guides I've seen) so it is advisable to have plenty of pictures of the actual camera being worked on just in case and not to rely exclusively of pictures of other cameras. It is important to have a detailed photo documentation, which you should do in addition to Gene's tutorial. In particular, there are some cables that need to be soldered and of course you have to put them in the right places. All of this is listed with Gene, but I took additional shots just to be sure.

Greetings,
New member here. I appreciate Andreas shared his X-700 disassembly experience. I have a question for you. I am working on an X-700 that the winding doesn't complete the cycle. The cause appears to be the two plastic gears T(white and blue) are out of sync. I am trying to pivot away the white one and turn the blue one a few teeth and let them engage again to see if that fixes it.
The problem is the shutter and mirror box is currently charged/cocked so I cannot turn the blue gear too much.
Andreas, in your picture #16 (the one with two red arrows), is there some lever you can push to manually release the charged shutter/mirror box?
I did not take out the mirror box, or unsolder any wires. Just removed 6 screws from the metal plate (the one with tripod socket) and a screw from the winder contacts block. I can turn and flip the chrome metal plate away to access the bottom of the mirror box.
Thanks.
You can release the shutter mechanically by reaching through the hole in the base plate and flicking the mirror tensioning lever.
Hi Andreas, First off thanks for all the wonderful teardowns and pics of the numerous Minolta cameras. I have been searching for an alternative way to repair my numerous non working X-700 for awhile now. Just had both capacitors changed in latest x-700 and it's still not working. I like to know how to release the shutter manually as I don't know which hole in the base plate where the mirror tensioning lever is ? can you kindly circle or mark where it is in the picture from your thread ? Thanks in advance and really looking forwards to learning more from you ... Thanks, James.
Unfortunately, I can't answer that because I haven't looked into it.
But this video, which shows a CLA for the X-700, might help:
