thank you for this, i'll read it and try to learn from it, i already found the answer to a question i had, that was if i should clean the flex board/screen residue or not, i did not clean it yesterday, and it was working well, but i'll take that into consideration next time i take it apart to fix

well, i tried searching for viewfinder, viewfinder mirrors, and so forth, i'm new here so i don't understand what has been discussed before, i'm not also a frequent forum user, i just like cameras, and i got a minolta 7000 from the US, that i tried getting as much info as i could before it got to me, and still i wasn't warned of the mirrors that came unstuck, "lcd aperture ring shutter unit" is a very nice, professional name, but i'm still a noob, i'm still going to search something like "viewfinder lcd" because it's an lcd that shows up inside the viewfinder, that said, i'm sorry for wasting server space on an already resolved question but i did not know anything at the time of writing

I've no problem with anyone asking questions or starting threads .
It's just that over the years lots of information has been posted on here , some by people that are sadly no longer with us .
When doing searches it's worth being a bit vague, ie , just typing in Minolta 7000 and see what comes up .

If it's to be a regular used camera , it'd be well worth doing , otherwise remember to top the battery up to keep it in good order .
I typically use Sanyo Eneloops in my cameras , rechargeable batteries that hold the charge well .
I think Panasonic bought them out a few years back .
I've had some of mine going on about twenty years and they still work fine . Probably don't hold the power they did new , but still work well . Ok in flashes as well .

well, now i do feel foolish, it was all already here, but then again, i managed to meet some people, stick around, i'll still have to do it all again one of these days, so i'll post it on this thread so to not open a new one

well, back then on saturday, i tried, really tried, found some things but i was searching on the go as i was out of home running some errands, i went blindly, dissassembled the 7000 by myself friday, screwed up by breaking a cable and by saturday when i wrote the first thread i was really nervous about what was going to happen, i did not know the correct terminologies, they were there, yeah, but i just wanted someone to say to me "this mirror goes here and that mirror goes there", i went home, started operating on the camera very slowly, i do not even have a proper welding iron, what i do have is a 40W wood engraver that i use to smooth ABS builds i do with my 3d pen, it has what it calls a "welding tip" but it's all so very bulky, as i was trying to figure out how i would put it back together, i kept searching my email for someone who could help me, to see "may be just buy another camera", i was soo mad, i already have the service manual PDF, i found it by chance on the internet, got it all for free, but it's all black and white and seems drawn by hand, still, i then managed to find something and assemble it back together, now i do have lots of information for my next attempt, but imagine never soldering anything in your life and your first subject is a minolta 7000

well it is, as i said, back in the 80s, minolta did offer a rechargeable lithium battery pack, possibly japan only, as all the cool stuff (SB-70, and so forth), i'm planning on making one of those for mine too, because it's completely reversible, for once, the ease of recharging it and leaving it for months, things like that, i also like to use eneloops, but this eliminates the need to remove the pack to charge it altogether, i think there's just one thing to be wary, i have to read it again, but there's a risk of blowing the 7000s internal fuse if wired incorrectly, something like that

Hello again for anyone reading this thread until now, i just got the α7000, right away i noticed some things different from the maxxum, it seems to have a "start up sequence" every time the batteries are popped into it, it will blink iso 100 for a while and then go into "program" mode, the maxxum just goes right into "program" (not sure if that's a quirk of a very, very bad sign), one thing i noticed too is that this one is loud while autofocusing, like, really loud, it was when i noticed the motor drive was more recessed than my other maxxum, which sits almost flush, that will be fun to figure out i guess, great news about this machine is that it has a (somewhat) working viewfinder display, it just needs to be calibrated, maybe check the tiny mirrors again, the display is not displaying correctly still, and something's very sticky when i try to shoot, my guess is something somewhere inside that's not very happy , looks like fun, so, before i take this one apart, i'll do a lot more research around here and then come up with something, i'm having more fun fixing them than shooting with them, although i already had quite some fun with the maxxum, i'll get some proper tooling, a proper clean space to work on, and a lot of patience, i do not know when i'll be back with the alpha, but i do know she can't operate like this
