The big question: Where shall we go?
No excuse not to get out: the days are long, the sunsets are sublime (perhaps not always...) and there is lots of time to wander yonder. We're heading into November, then December — the warmest and traditionally most pleasant months: no big crowds (except for Year 12 exiles). A weekend away, or just a day trip?
You know it's now several months since the last doubtless successful APUG outing. There was a mention of a proposed outing recently by somebody (LJH?) but nothing eventuated.

Might I throw in the suggestion we head down to Phillip Island and go on a walk-talk-and-gawk of the fab Pinnacles at Cape Woolamai (assuming the weather is noyce to us!). The Pinnacles endear themselves to any format and any film: Melbourne lensman, His Eminence David Tatnall produced his most arty "EXISTENSIS" series in B&W using an 8x10 pinhole down there. The place rocks (but Tatnall's pinhole 'ghosts' are the done thing!).
I haven't been down there since 2001, chiefly because falling into a wombat burrow, camera 'n tripod 'n all was not a particularly good start to the walk, having to return home to Castlemaine wrapped in bandages (wombats have claws). There are two ways to approach the Pinnacles: overland (above the beach) where the traps are, or on the beach, rising up to the cliffs on the approach to The Pinnacles. For energetic types, it's possible to traverse the Pinnacles and land on the beach on the other side for the walk back to the cars. But only at low tide. Which is another factor to consider: low or high, the waves down there are a menace.
Afterward, we could head to Cowes for chow? It would be a fairly long day trip (and as I remember it, but not exactly as I did it, dirty too). 'Tis not beyond you inveterate energetic travellers (Boots, among...).
What other places? I declare the discussion now open.
