Anyone have any ideas what has gone wrong with my my Mamiya 7ii?

It seems to advance and fire fine without film in it, but when you put a roll of film in it after you advance to the first frame and take a picture it gets stuck. You can't advamce the shutter to the next frame. It operates no different in multi mode. The curtain is set to open.

I'm in New Orleans visiting and would love to get my camera working! It's in like new condition and I haven't had any issues yet.

I did read somewhere to try cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser, t I cant find a pencil! When I get one I'll try it.

Thanks for your help!

I would call over to Precision Camera Works in Niles, Illinois, to see if they can help you over the phone. Dead Link Removed

If that doesn't work, and no one can help here, I'd send it on in.

Have you used it normally without trouble before, or is it new to you? More info/history would probably be helpful .

Thanks.

I'll try and give them a call, though they're probably closed until next week.

It's newish to me. I bought it over the summer and have shot maybe 5 rolls through it without issue. Then
Set roll I shot it seemed to be acting a bit finicky but it all worked out.
I'm guessing it is the shitter release magnet. Which wouldn't be to costly to fix.

Yeah popped the new one that's been in my bag for about 8 months. It tests fine though.

Also the red light in the corner is solid, not flashing.

I'll try and pick one up today and try that.

I have a volt meter at home in Austin, when I get there tomorrow I'll test it.

To me it seems strange that it would be the battery since it advances and fires just fine without film in it, but obviously that's the cheapest place to start.

Luckily I have another MF camera and my leica with me so haven't been missing out on any shooting on my trip.

Got it off to Robert at Precision Camera Works. It was the electromagnet that wasn't telling the shitter to reset or so,etching like that. He has to take the rangefinder apart to get to it so I'm going to have a CLA there and update it with the new parts, also I am going to have the helicoil on the lens relubed as it was q little stiff. Should receive back a brand new camera!

What do they charge for the CLA portion of this camera?
I know they don't usually give estimates over the phone and I can't find an answer online.

I paid a bit under $400 for my repair, which was just over half of what the MAC group wanted to charge me for the same repair. That included the upgrade to the 7II viewfinder and a rangefinder calibration. I don't know what it would have been for just the CLA. One of these days I may find out.
