I'm looking for a power drive for my 1000s. Some that I've seen come with a coupler, some don't. What is the purpose of the coupler? Is it necessary to have one to use the drive with my camera? Cheers.

Yes, the coupler is a little piece that connects the drive to where the crank would go on the camera. If you don't get one with the drive, you will need to find one elsewhere. I am not sure, but I suspect they might be a bit hard to find by themselves. Certainly get an idea about whether you can find it before you invest in a drive that comes without.

Thanks for the info. I'm just getting familiar with my new 1000s (and loving it!). A power drive is next on my list of things to acquire. Cheers,
